Here’s the news nobody was waiting for...
Picking Bones Fest will no longer take place.
Why you ask? Simple...
Everything is getting more and more expensive. Our costs for putting up the festival have almost doubled over the past years and our ticket prices have not.
Why don’t we raise the ticket price, you ask?
Because we don’t want people to pay a ton of money to come and have a good time. We see, just like you, what other festivals are charging and we think it’s crazy. It’s almost shameful. We never started this to make money, it was just an idea between a couple of people that got out of hand. The festival grew from a chaotic gathering in a horse field into a well oiled machine, but kept it’s underground spirit, free from multinational sponsorships. Just like we wanted.
Why don’t you just make the festival a little smaller, you ask?
Because we don’t want that. And the overhead cost doesn’t change drastically if we would downsize.
So... this leaves us with nothing else to do than thank each and everyone that helped build the festival to what it was. Our volunteers, sponsors, kitchen crew, visitors from all over the world, local governments from both Tielt-Winge (where it all started) and Linter (where it ended), all the bands and artists, the welcoming neighbours, food vendors and so on...
We had a ton of fun putting on this festival for all those years, but we also have to admit that it became somewhat of a burden on our shoulders. So don’t be sad it’s over, we aren’t. It’s time to focus on other things.
Ps. The organization will continue to exist and we will put on a couple of clubshows each year. So bands and bookers... feel free to contact us in the future.
Thank you and see you at a show!
