Next edition 8-10 Oct '26 The presence of many international composers and their agents at this special evening is the best proof that with its passion for film & TV music, Film Fest Gent is a firm mixture among the international festival landscape. And, according to the American entertainment-trade magazine Variety, the festival even played a pioneering role in the

growing popularity of film music concerts all over the world. Film Fest Gent wants to create a community in which it can provide the latest updates, news and facts with regards to film music. Please feel free to discuss or post anything related to film & TV music, composers or soundtracks in general. The 20th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards takes place on October 24th with the World Soundtrack Awards Gala & Concert, an evening with the Award Ceremony followed by a concert. Calling all composers, directors and producers - the Third Character Film Music Market is now open for all!
Third Character gives composers the opportunity to meet duos of producers and directors who are working on a film. Collaborations born out of this matchmaking have the chance to apply for financial support for the score.

🎵 Composers can sign up 1 June to 7 August
🎥 Film submissions are open 1 May to 14 August

We are incredibly proud to announce Hildur Guðnadóttir as our Guest of Honour for the 26th WSA Ceremony & Concert, Saturday October 10, 2026.

Guðnadóttir is globally renowned for her immersive scores for 'Joker', '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple',TÁR', and the critically acclaimed HBO series 'Chernobyl'. Her versatility and originality have earned her a unique and definitive place in the contemporary music scene. Her groundbreaking work has previously been recognised by the World Soundtrack Awards, earning her the titles of Television Composer of the Year (2019) and Film Composer of the Year (2020).

A true trailblazer, Guðnadóttir made history as the first solo woman to win both a Golden Globe for Best Original Score and a Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack.

During the ceremony, the Brussels Philharmonic, conducted by Maestro Dirk Brossé, will perform a selection of her work as a special tribute.

𝐕𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐎𝐃𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐌 2026 kicks off with an extraordinary cinematic experience. To mark the 20th anniversary of Kelly Reichardt‘s ‘Old Joy’, we present a special screening of this melancholic indie masterpiece featuring a world-exclusive live score. For one night only, acclaimed harpist Mary Lattimore will transform the film’s atmosphere, replacing the original soundtrack with her ethereal and meditative harp compositions.⁠

This VIDEODROOM Concert is part of the WSA Film Music Days (8-10 Oct '26).

'Old Joy' follows two old friends—played by Daniel London and iconic singer-songwriter Will Oldham (aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy)—who have drifted apart over the years, as they embark on a camping trip. With this bittersweet sketch, Reichardt placed herself at the forefront of American independent cinema, creating a film that resonates long after the final frame and continues to provoke reflection.⁠

For 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲, the original soundtrack will be tucked away, and replaced by the intimate sounds of 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞. Since her 2013 debut 'The Redrawing Room', she has become a mainstay of the American experimental folk scene. Her impressive list of collaborators includes artists such as Kurt Vile, Thurston Moore, Sharon Van Etten, Jarvis Cocker, Steve Gunn, and many more. A virtuous musician, Lattimore masterfully juggles countless effect pedals live, yet can just as easily make her harp—stripped of all electronics—sing like no other.⁠

We are delighted to announce that Trevor Jones will be receiving the WSA Lifetime Achievement Award during the 26th World Soundtrack Awards!

Trevor Jones scored over 100 films and television projects, including 'Mississippi Burning' (1988), 'The Last of the Mohicans' (1992) and 'Notting Hill' (1999). The renowned composer has also collaborated with several famous artists including Sting , David Bowie and Sinéad O'Connor .

Jones will be honoured during the WSA2026 Ceremony & Concert — the closing event of the 2026 WSA Film Music Days.⁠
