Zeven dagen lang bracht design de stad tot leven, met tentoonstellingen, installaties, projecten en ontmoetingen op verschillende plekken in Gent. Van 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗮 in het Gouvernement tot 𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗟𝗢𝗛𝗢 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝘀 en 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, bedankt aan alle designers, partners, locaties en bezoekers die deze editie mee vorm hebben gegeven!
Hoewel Design Fest Gent in de stad afgelopen is, kan je nog steeds terecht in Design Museum Gent voor 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧 en 𝗖𝗢-𝗟𝗔𝗕.

ᴇɴ | 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘁
For seven days, design brought the city to life through exhibitions, installations, projects and encounters across Ghent. From 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗮 at Gouvernement to 𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗟𝗢𝗛𝗢 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝘀 and 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, a big thank you to all the designers, partners, venues and visitors who made this edition possible!

Gisteren vierden we de grote heropening van Design Museum Gent. Wat een plezier om jullie opnieuw in ons museum te mogen ontvangen! Maar dit was nog maar het begin.

Vanaf vandaag gaat Design Fest Gent écht van start. Acht dagen lang ontdek je design op heel wat plekken in de stad. Van 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧 en 𝗖𝗢-𝗟𝗔𝗕 in Design Museum Gent tot 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗮 in Gouvernement, 𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗟𝗢𝗛𝗢 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝘀 en 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻. Yesterday, we celebrated the grand reopening of Design Museum Gent. What a joy it was to welcome you back to our museum! But this was only the beginning.

Starting today, Design Fest Gent truly comes to life. For eight days, discover design in locations across the city. Design Fest Gent komt steeds dichterbij.

De voorbije maanden werd er achter de schermen hard gewerkt aan de opbouw van de verschillende tentoonstellingen, installaties en werken. De afgelopen weken kwamen alles en iedereen samen: handen uit de mouwen, werken opgebouwd, ruimtes ingericht en de laatste details afgewerkt.

Een prachtig verhaal dat gedurende maanden samen met heel wat mensen vorm kreeg, krijgt nu stilaan zijn definitieve vorm.
We zijn er bijna klaar voor om het resultaat met de wereld te delen.

Een grote dankjewel aan iedereen die de voorbije maanden heeft meegedacht, meegebouwd, gecreëerd, geholpen en mee vormgegeven aan Design Fest Gent 2026. Zonder jullie was dit niet mogelijk geweest.
Nog even… en dan openen we de deuren.

Design Fest Gent is fast approaching.

Over the past months, a lot has been happening behind the scenes. During the final weeks, our incredible team has been busy installing exhibitions, building installations, setting up works and taking care of the final details.
A story that has been shaped over many months, together with so many people, is now slowly coming together.

We are almost ready to share the result with the world.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed, collaborated, built, created, supported and helped bring Design Fest Gent 2026 to life. We could not have done it without you.

ɴʟ | 𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗘𝗜 — 𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

𝗪𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 toont de nieuwe generatie Belgisch ontwerptalent. De sterkste studentenprojecten uit het creatieve hoger ontwerponderwijs werden geselecteerd door een professionele jury en worden samengebracht bij BROEI.

BROEI is een open huis waar jonge ontwerpers experimenteren, ideeën delen en nieuwe mogelijkheden verkennen.

In 2026 is de tentoonstelling te zien van 3 tot 11 oktober tijdens de heropening van Design Museum Gent en van 27 oktober tot 8 november tijdens WONDER Creativity Festival Kortrijk.

ᴇɴ | 𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗘𝗜 — 𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

𝗪𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 showcases the next generation of Belgian design talent. The strongest student projects from creative higher design education, selected by a professional jury, come together at BROEI.

BROEI is an open house where young designers experiment, exchange ideas and explore new possibilities.

In 2026, the exhibition runs from 3 to 11 October during the reopening of Design Museum Gent , and from 27 October to 8 November during WONDER Creativity Festival in Kortrijk.

Het voormalige Gouvernementshuis was ooit een plek waar structuren werden georganiseerd en beslissingen genomen. Tijdens Design Fest Gent wordt het gebouw een tijdelijke ruimte voor nieuwe vormen van maken, denken en samenkomen.

Ontdek hoe materialen worden gesneden, gevormd en getransformeerd tot nieuwe ideeën, structuren en mogelijkheden.

The former Government House was once a place where structures were organised and decisions were made. During Design Fest Gent, the building becomes a temporary space for new forms of making, thinking and coming together.

Op de voormalige Fluvius-site in Parkham, waar OCUP vzw huist, ontstaat ruimte voor ontmoeting, experiment en samenwerking. Geen afgewerkt plan, maar een plek in beweging. Zeven ontwerppraktijken, Loulou João, Shirley Villavicenzio Pizango, aequo.design, Leto Keunen, Nomie Vandenaweele, Eric Treillard en Manoeuvre, en studenten Design for Impact van LUCA School of Arts gaan er samen met buurtbewoners, fauna en flora aan de slag. Vanuit verschillende praktijken en perspectieven onderzoeken ze wat er leeft, wat nodig is en wat kan groeien. Ideeën, ingrepen en experimenten ontstaan samen met de buurt: soms klein, soms zichtbaar, soms nog volop in wording. Parkham is geen eindpunt, maar een gedeelde plek waar nieuwe manieren van samenleven kunnen ontstaan.

ᴇɴ | 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗛𝗔𝗠. 𝗔 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 — 𝗙𝗟𝗨𝗩𝗜𝗨𝗦-𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗘
On the former Fluvius site in Parkham, home to OCUP vzw, space opens up for encounter, experimentation and collaboration. Not a finished plan, but a place in motion. Seven design practices, Loulou João, Shirley Villavicenzio Pizango, aequo.design, Leto Keunen, Nomie Vandenaweele, Eric Treillard and Manoeuvre, together with Design for Impact students from LUCA School of Arts, work alongside local residents, fauna and flora. Starting from different practices and perspectives, they explore what is alive here, what is needed and what might grow. Ideas, interventions and experiments emerge with the neighbourhood: sometimes small, sometimes visible, sometimes still taking shape. Parkham is not a finished destination, but a shared place where new ways of living together can emerge.
