A full day to explore China from many angles — through film, literature, debate, VR, poetry, and food.
From short films and a debate on contemporary China with Tom Van de Weghe, Pascal Coppens & Jun Jiang, to conversations about Sunzi’s Art of War with Mark Leenhouts, the festival day invites you to listen, watch, taste, and discover. Wander through the poetry cabinet, explore VR experiences, browse books from Walry, and enjoy Chinese street food by JING WEI × HAVEN.

🌟❗️Speaker Update for the A Touch of Sin Introduction
The talk about Jia Zhangke, preceding the film A Touch of Sin on Sunday 8 March, will be presented by film expert Tim Maerschand (Urgent.fm ). Tim Maerschand🫶🏻
Christophe Verbiest who was supposed to give the talk had to cancel due to medical reasons.
Tim Maerschand co-presents the film program Kuleshov on radio station Urgent.fm and previously the podcast Wide Angle for Film Fest Gent. He is actively involved as a volunteer with the Ghent film collectives Ciné Rio and Kuru.
As a freelance film journalist, he regularly provides introductions and after-show discussions in Ghent and beyond. He has previously contributed as a film critic to the magazines Filmmagie and Fantômas.
