jects run in various cities all over the world, EUNIC in Brussels is bringing European poetry into the Brussels metro system for the first time. For the celebration of the European Day of Languages on September 26th and the promotion of cultural diversity in the European Union, a collection of poems by aspiring or established artists from all across Europe will be displayed in their original language for the duration of at least one month. The selected poems will represent a wide variety of European styles and perspectives, reflecting the national character of each participating member institute of EUNIC. Since the project also aims to establish a connection with the Brussels local community, all poems will be translated into French and Dutch, allowing every passenger to enjoy the work of the artists and transform their daily routine commute into an inspiring journey. For enthused travellers, who would like to discover more about the poets, their work, share their thoughts or even express their talent and present a few poetry lines of their own, an interactive website gathering the poems - currently under construction (www.transpoesie.eu) - will be dedicated to the project. For the launch of the campaign on the European Day of Languages on the 26th of September a number of events around poetry, multilingualism and cultural diversity will be organised by EUNIC in Brussels with the support of multiple partners including all EUNIC in Brussels member institutes, the STIB and the international house of literature Passa Porta.

📣 We are delighted to announce the fourth edition of Poetry Expo 2026, curated and organised by Versopolis, the European platform for poetry.

Building on the visionary success of the previous editions, the 2026 Expo returns with a sharpened urgency and an expanded global reach - calling upon poets, artists, collectives, and institutions to respond to the fractured, shifting conditions of the world we now inhabit.

👉 We invite poets, performers, collectives, curators, literary institutions, publishers, festivals, and interdisciplinary artists to submit proposals, projects, and content for inclusion in Poetry Expo 2026.

On 18–19 September 2025, Transpoesie celebrates its 15th anniversary. Organised by EUNIC Brussels, the multilingual festival brings together 17 poets from across Europe, including Ukraine and minority languages such as Frisian and Basque.
Under the theme “Turbulent Times,” poets will give voice to hope and fear, to change and doubt.

On 18 September, audiences can roam Letterenhuis for parallel performances and interactive writing sessions.
On 19 September, the festival moves to Brussels with live poetry at the Royal Galleries, performances at Poetik Bazar, and a closing reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Brussels.

“Transpoesie embodies the mission of EUNIC Brussels: to foster trust and understanding among the people of Europe and the wider world,” states Waltraud Strommer, current president of EUNIC Brussels. “In turbulent times, poetry gives us words to face both the fractures and the bonds of our era,” says curator Philip Meersman. Or, as one poet puts it: “Our languages may differ, but the storm we speak of is shared.”

Since 2011, TRANSPOESIE has celebrated multilingualism in the framework of the European Day of Languages and Linguistic Diversity on 26 September. By showcasing original poems in their native languages across public spaces and online, TRANSPOESIE aims to create a vibrant platform for the poetic expressions of our diverse linguistic tapestry.

Curated by Philip Meersman in co-organisation with Sofia Busatto.
