The 18th European Meeting on Ancient Ceramics will take place on 24-28 May, 2027. It is organized by Université catholique de Louvain – campus Saint-Louis Bruxelles (UCLouvain-SLB), in collaboration with the Royal Museums for Art and History (RMAH) and Université de Namur (UNamur). In line with the fields of expertise of the three host institutions, the goal is to explore how archaeometric ceramic research can contribute to deepen our knowledge of cultural heritage and to engage with the most pressing cultural issues of our time. EMAC2027 combines a "Lab&Museum School" with the international conference.
The "Lab&Museum School" will take place on May 24-25 at UNamur and RMAH.
The conference will take place on 26-28 May at UCLouvain-SLB, with a keynote lecture by Dr. Michela Spataro (British Museum) at RMAH on 27 May. We will welcome contributions in the form of oral presentations and posters in eight thematic sessions:
S1: Mobility of crafts, skills, and pottery products
S2: Pottery technology, from production to use
S3: The art of terracotta
S4: Innovation and tradition in ceramic crafts
S5: Ceramic ecology
S6: Ceramics and society
S7: Archaeometry at the museum
