This beauty combines velvety chocolate, zesty kiwi, crunchy pistachio and fragrant basil in a heavenly explosion of flavours. Plant-based, fresh and indulgent, yet still light enough to keep the post-dessert slump at bay.

The largest are the Nightingale Rooms: bright and versatile event spaces ready to make your next gathering soar. Use them as one large area or divide them into two smaller sections, depending on your needs.

With 130 m² of daylight-filled space and capacity for up to 100 guests, they’re perfect for breakout sessions, presentations, lectures, networking moments and more.

Recently, we welcomed Sweco at A Room with a ZOO for their Innovation Day. This inspiring event brought together customers, partners and employees from the Buildings division: frontrunners in future-proof solutions for the built environment. 💪

Our Atrium laid the foundations for a successful day, as it was transformed into a plenary venue for 650 guests. As the event’s beating heart, it connected buzzing breakout sessions and an engaging poster tour. A delicious barbecue in the Marble Hall and a late-summer gathering on the terrace rounded off the day, with flamingo views (the rule, not the exception). 🦩

Thank you, Sweco, for choosing A Room with a ZOO as the setting for meaningful conversations, solid connections and plenty of ideas to help build a more sustainable future together.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting VIB’s 30th anniversary celebration at A Room with a ZOO. 🎂

No fewer than 1,200 scientists, entrepreneurs and policymakers came together to exchange ideas on collaboration, emerging technologies, the future of life sciences research and the role of Flanders in an increasingly competitive international landscape.

Afterwards, everyone gathered in the Queen Elisabeth Hall for an inspiring evening that reflected on three decades of progress, while looking ahead to the opportunities still to come.

Thank you, VIB, for choosing A Room with a ZOO for this remarkable anniversary. Here’s to your next chapter of entrepreneurship, scientific discovery and strengthening Flanders’ position as a leading biotechnology hub. Cheers! 🥂

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. 🐘

Meet our darling Jacqueline, the first elephant to call Antwerp ZOO home. After arriving from Myanmar (then Burma) in 1852, she remained a beloved resident until her death in 1880.

Today, her skeleton watches over the Butterfly Hall, on the doorstep of Darwin Hall. Climb the marble steps of the Verlat Hall, and you’ll find yourself beneath a stunning stained-glass window, overlooking the Winter Garden below.

Fun fact: during Jacqueline’s restoration in 2012, conservators discovered a piece of newspaper from 1881, used as a filling material for one of her vertebrae. 👀

⚡FLEXCON 2026, we loved your energy.

Recently, Europe’s leading conference on energy flexibility brought together experts, policymakers and industry leaders from Europe and beyond at A Room with a ZOO. With 500+ attendees, 100 speakers and 60 sessions, it was the biggest edition yet.

Powered by the Flexiblepower Alliance Network (FAN) and smartEn, the event transformed our venue into a hub for high-voltage networking and knowledge sharing. It sparked buzzing conversations, energising workshops and positively charged discussions on various smart energy topics, such as the complex transition towards supply-driven energy consumption.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this edition a success!

Time to Kets up with history (sorry).

Located on the first floor of the Historical Wing, the intimate Jacques Kets Room pays tribute to the naturalist and taxidermist who became the first managing director of Antwerp ZOO in 1843. 🐘

Alongside his portrait, you’ll find paintings and busts here that honour the ZOO’s former directors, surrounded by rich dark wood, soft yellow walls, intricate architectural details and a beautiful wooden floor.

Every gathering here is, in its own way, a meeting with history.

What if more people want to attend your plenary session than can fit in the room?

“Oops”? Not at all.

At OpenLivingLab Days 2026, organised by the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), interest in the plenary sessions exceeded the capacity of our Darwin Hall (whale included 🐋).

The solution: a streaming setup that broadcast every insight and discussion live to the Marble Hall below, which gracefully stepped in as a stunning overflow room for the occasion.

One skilled AV team, hundreds of attendees, two seamlessly connected rooms. We’re always delighted to bring a little behind-the-scenes magic to centre stage.

Earlier this month, we were proud to welcome the 35th Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB 2026). The event brought together more than 1,000 researchers, clinicians and industry professionals from across Europe and beyond.

As ESB celebrated its 50th anniversary, experts from various disciplines came together to establish valuable new connections, exchange knowledge and advance groundbreaking solutions for clinical applications. Discussions ranged from the sector’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals to progress in tissue and organ repair, showcasing the remarkable innovations in biomaterials and regenerative medicine.

Between sessions, participants could unwind and recharge at Antwerp ZOO, right next door, enjoying the final days of summer among its furry, feathered and fluttering residents. 🦋
