Abdullah Quilliam and Marmaduke Pickthall were influential figures in British Islam. Quilliam, who converted to Islam in 1887, established the Liverpool Muslim Institute and Britain's first mosque in 1889.
He also published works that aimed to introduce Islam to the English-speaking public. He was recognized as the "Shaykh al-Islam of the British Isles."One of the earliest respected English translations of the Qur'an was authored by Pickthall, a novelist and scholar, which facilitated a more comprehensive understanding of Islam among English speakers.
Their legacies facilitated interfaith understanding and had an enduring influence on Islam in the West.
