Bangladesh Digital Financial Inclusion Conference 2018

Bangladesh has broadly committed to inclusive sustainable growth, as espoused in the country’s 7th five year plan and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Acknowledging the role of access to finance for all as a key enabler for inclusive growth, Bangladesh is emphasizing on accelerating digital financial inclusion through various initiatives. The key objective is to achieve a “Digital Bangladesh” by bringing about socioeconomic transformation through information and communication technology (ICT) where citizens are empowered having access to essential services, and able to participate and enjoy benefits from the development process.

Bangladesh Digital Financial Inclusion Conference 2018 will bring policy makers, regulators and the private sector stakeholders on a common platform to reflect on the country’s journey in promoting financial inclusion and outline next course of actions.

The conference will –

Celebrate the achievements of Bangladesh;s digital financial inclusion journey in the last decade.

Outline a comprehensive vision for fostering growth of DFS in Bangladesh and immediate next steps to achieve Vision 2021 accelerating financial inclusion through digital pathways.

Conduct sector specific thematic stakeholder discussions outlining potential collaborative strategies and way forward.

Facilitate investors’ avenues to explore the ongoing innovations and potential high volume driver sectors for DFS.

Host ‘Digital Finance Innovation Fair’ to enable stakeholders explore the ongoing innovations in the domain.

Elicit call for actions from regulators, policy makers and a diverse range of private sector stakeholders to synergize efforts.

The conference is a daylong arrangement, holding on November 20, 2018. All the discussions are segregated in seven thematic panels. There’s DFS innovation fair which will enable the partner organizations to showcase their innovative digital financial products.

UNCDF is hosting the conference in association with Access to Information programme (a2i), BRAC and Business Finance for the Poor in Bangladesh (BFP-B). The initiative is supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the European Union.
