House of Mosaic, unique & undiscovered, occupies a land today known as Eagle. Its history rests undoubtedly close to its owner, Fernando Mansur. This land belonged to the ‘Arend Petroleum Maatschappij’ (Eagle Petroleum Company, by the Royal Shell Group) and undertook operations from 1927-1953. The ‘Arend’ played a key role in delivering fuel to the Allied Armies in World War II for the invasion of June 6th, 1944. As a consequence, our island has been torpedoed by the Nazis during the war! Providencially, none of the torpedoes exploded. Fernando’s mother, Marjorie Henriquez-Mansur, was a witness to when one of the submarines which submerged, with the intention to bomb the island. It is said, the captain has visited our island before the war, and could not bear bombing the children… as they may be offspring from people he has met on his trip. The submarine receded without launching a torpedo. The directors of the ‘Arend’, who came from England & Scotland, are Great Uncles of Fernando (Mother’s side). Fernando’s future was set in stone as a cultural melting pot, when Marjorie married the Lebanese descendent John Mansur. After acquiring one of the director’s houses… Fernando’s journey began. Having a background in theatre and politics, he created a dream world redesigning the house, where the convergence of cultures as they once were, and perhaps even lost through time, would be resurrected with a new existence. This secret hideaway would be the genesis of House of Mosaic in the heart of our city Oranjestad… His passion for interior design, art, culture and theatre would quintessentially embody House of Mosaic. Mosaics are not per se the focus here, but local art, antiques, family heirlooms and costumes come to represent the Mosaics of Life. All paraphernalia you would unearth here, all find a new life in House of Mosaic. Come join his journey and experience the mysterious… where mystical illusions draw your attention to the quest for the afar. At House of Mosaic , you can let your soul enlighten itself in joyful bliss. BON BINI... WELCOME

Who made the Queen evil? And what secrets does that glass apple hold?

Before she gave it to Snow White, perhaps she was a diva in haute couture—gliding into glamorous balls, turning heads, and maybe even partying at House of Mosaic.

This installation began with a one-of-a-kind dress gifted to me by my dear friend Jerusha Rasmijn after she represented Aruba at Miss Universe in 1992. Designed by renowned Colombian designer Jaime Arango, its intricate embroidery was hand-sewn by nuns onto paper. When the paper was carefully removed, the embroidery stayed true to his design.

I added a dramatic black cape by Lebanese designer Bernard Jabbour. When his collection opened in our Sculpture Garden, I saw this cape and thought, “I have to have it.” The hand-cut, hand-sewn sequin horses at the hem sealed the deal.

And then there’s the glass apple: the final prop in my version of the story. Together, the dress, cape, and apple became my vision of the Queen who gave Snow White that fateful bite.

But what happened to her? What made her evil?

VOTE: What do you think made the Queen evil?

My theory? Some prince broke her heart. Darling, it happens

Darling, ZOOM IN!!! This late‑1800s lion-dragon has a rather cheeky little extra below the belt.

He’s an antique door handle from a ruined temple in Tibet. I found him in an Amsterdam antique shop in the early 2000s. Of course I had to gold gild it myself! Now he’s hiding behind a sign at House of Mosaic’s Main Entrance Door, waiting for someone to notice.

From the street, you’d never guess that House of Mosaic is an art gallery you can stay in.

Step inside and enter a living, breathing world of color, texture, and imagination. Sunlight moves across painted walls, patterns unfold in unexpected places, and every room reveals its own distinct character. Art gathers around you in layers—bold, intimate, playful, and full of stories waiting to be noticed.

Wander slowly. Let your eyes travel from one detail to the next. Run your fingers over the textures, pause before the pieces that draw you in, and look a little closer—you may even discover the hidden entrance to our Narnia room.

Every guest arrives with their own story, energy, and perspective. Together, those impressions become part of the ever-growing mosaic that makes House of Mosaic feel alive.

Even the restroom signs are different at House of Mosaic in Aruba.

We needed new restroom signs…

But this is House of Mosaic. Ordinary was never an option.

So we created something a little more us — portraits designed especially for our Ladies & Gentlemen rooms, where old-world glamour meets a touch of the unexpected.

And apparently… our newest residents have personalities of their own.

The Ladies have arrived. The Gentlemen are next.

Be honest… when you heard “O***m Bed,” is this what you expected?

Born in 1890. The o***m has retired. The experience has evolved.

Today, our antique O***m Bed is home to Spa in a Bed — a private oxygen and aromatherapy experience with essential oils, right here at House of Mosaic.

A little history. A little indulgence. And definitely not your ordinary spa experience.

Which experience are you choosing?
