It's always too windy for fishing on festival weekend, so catch The Cherabins in Yungaburra, a band of four Cairns-based mates crafting witty soft rock, funk, and soul influenced originals inspired by life in Far North Queensland, its wildlife, its characters, and the culture that ties it all together. Bring your tent, bring your mates and we'll bring the great music!

Anyone can join in the fun. The caller tells you the steps, so stomp, clap and kick up your heels to the music. 💃
These musos have been getting toes-a-tapping at the Folk Festival and around the Tablelands for more years than they'd like to count. Guaranteed good fun, no algorithms or AI required. 🎶

Less than 7 weeks to go!! It’s about now that our little band of volunteer organisers start wondering what we’ve got ourselves into.🙄🤪 We have 2 new big marquee venues and dozens of performer beds to arrange, because the Pub isn’t available to use this year; bars and bar volunteers to coordinate in the new venues; travel arrangements to make to transport our visiting performers up and down the hill; stalls to coordinate; volunteers to roster; decorations to make; t-shirts to print; unforeseen program glitches to work out; and all the myriad of things that go to creating a festival. 🎪

👨‍🎤But we believe that live music matters! 🎸🎶 it tells our stories, lifts our spirits, and brings us together. We want to keep our creative community thriving. That’s why Tablelands Folk Festival champions local performers, lifts up young artists, and brings exceptional acts from across the country to inspire us all. We want our festival to be a joyful celebration of music and connection.

So, we remind ourselves that between our Folkie family and the Yungaburra Community, we’ve pulled it together every year for 45years! We got this! 😊
We’re so grateful to everyone who has registered to volunteer so far; to the wonderful Yungaburra Villagers who have opened their spare rooms and backyards to accommodate performers; to Mr Belson Cafe, Platypus Bakehouse, Nick's Restaurant Bar & Pizzeria, Our Place Restaurant and The Gem Gallery, for offering their businesses as venues; to Tablelands Music Lovers for helping run the Fringe; and to Tablelands Regional Council , Underwood PartyHire, What's On Tablelands, , 4AM and McGinty's Cairns for supporting the festival.
🙋If you, or your business can help out in some way, please contact us.
🎟 If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, please do.
😍 If you’d just like to cheer us on in the comments, or share our posts with your friends, you’d make our day.
Then come October, we'll gather in Yungaburra with open hearts, ready to sing, dance, and revel in the incredible program that makes Tablelands Folk Festival so special.

Wielding a cello and powerhouse vocals, Monique Clare is a multi-award-winning songwriter whose deeply personal storytelling and authentic stage presence elicits cathartic tears and laughter. Her songwriting mirrors her classical training, immersion in the folk scene, and art-pop influences like Björk and Joanna Newsom.
Insatiably adventurous, Monique's career has spanned teaching music in war-torn Afghanistan to playing cello with Eminem to a crowd of 80,000 people, touring her acclaimed album ‘Sight’ across Europe and leading hikers up mountainsides for sunrise concerts. With an innovative style that shatters preconceptions of the cello, a disarmingly candid stage presence and a smile as wide as the Cheshire cat's, her live show is mesmerising, offbeat and impactful.
She first played in Yungaburra in 2022 and we're delighted to have her back this year, after touring the UK.
