Surfing the Coldstream Festival Yamba

Surfing the Coldstream Festival Yamba A free community music and arts festival that ended in 2016. If you're an arts philanthropist who values free community events, please get in touch.

Our festival last ran in 2016 and since then has been on hiatus, pending a review of the business model. If you're a corporate sponsor looking for an innovative opportunity, we're happy to change to a paid model in which you can connect with our audience. Yamba is still a gem of a location for a music festival and the population is constantly growing...opportunity awaits.

Dear music lovers, a very happy new year to you.

I’m promoting a show for Emily Barker and her multi-instrumentalist partner Lukas Drinkwater at Wooloweyah Hall on Friday 14th Jan.

Emily is a truly international artist, having departed her home in Bridgetown WA twenty years ago to forge a career as an independent artist. Since then she has self-funded and recorded over eight albums, including collaborations with musicians in Nashville, performed at the 2012 London Olympic Games Opening Ceremony and scored film soundtracks.

It’s quite a coup to have her come play in the Lower Clarence. Also, with the current situation, you can imagine what effort and determination is required for any musician to make a living, let alone tour on the other side of the world. Nothing brings people to gather like live music - that said, mask wearing is recommend and we’ll abide by whatever gov measures are in place at the time.

So please show your support for live music.

Many thanks, Phil

Surfing the Coldstream Festival is no more.

We're sad too! 😢 It was a perfectly-formed community festival and we loved it too 👩‍🎤🌊🎸🤹‍♂️🥁🌏🎪🎬👌 it had a bit of everything that's good about the arts.

After running 9 free festivals on majority volunteer power we, committee members of the not-for-profit association behind the venture: Live Prawn Productions Inc, have opted to use alternative ways of showcasing local talent and providing broad community access to and involvement in the arts. 😃

We continue to operate the monthly Yamba River Markets and turn the profits back into 3 strands of arts funding:

A) Community Art Activities/Workshops/Exhibitions
B) Commissions
C) Arts Underwriting

Look out for the next Salty Sounds live music event, that we are delighted to support through our Arts Underwriting programme.

Come to the Art Market at our April Yamba River Market. There's live music at the market every month too.

Bring your kids to enjoy the free art activities provided by Yamba Art Space Gallery that we fund at the Maclean .

We'll post information about our commissions and other work in due course.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended one of our festivals, volunteered their time to help make it happen, put their hand in their pocket and sponsored this wonderful event for local people.
