AORRA Engine Capacity Rule Change Applications Voting Results - September 2024
Two rule change applications were recently processed focusing on key aspects of our Off Road Competition Technical and Class Structure.
Class 4, Class 5, Class 8, and Ultimate Vehicles:
Currently, the regulations stipulate that vehicles in the Ultimate Class, Class 4, Class 5, and Class 8 must have an engine capacity (including any turbo/supercharging, rotary, and/or diesel correction factors) not exceeding 6000cc. The proposed change increases the limit of naturally aspirated engines to 7000cc +1% for these vehicles.
Class 2 Vehicles:
Currently, Class 2 vehicles have an engine capacity (including any turbo/supercharging, rotary, and/or diesel correction factors) not exceeding 1650cc. The proposed change was to increase this limit to 1800cc
Voting Results:
Ultimate: Yes 78.95%, No 21.05%
Class 4: Yes 68.42%, No 31.58%
Class 5: Yes 80.00%, No 20.00%
Class 8: Yes 71.43%, No 28.57%
Class 2: Yes 30.77%, No 69.23%
Outcome:
With these results, the proposed changes to Ultimate, Class 4, Class 5, and Class 8 have been approved by the competitors , while the proposed change for Class 2 was not approved during the voting process.
Effective from 2025:
Class 4, Class 5, Class 8 and Ultimate vehicles can now have a naturally aspirated engine capacity not exceeding 7000cc +1%. Forced induction engines will remain the same with a swept volume of 6000cc plus 1% and a 1.7 correction factor.
Class 2: The engine capacity limit will remain unchanged at 1650cc.
