Back in 2016, the same year we started On The Edge Events, I lined up for my very first 100km ultra marathon at the Alpine Challenge in Falls Creek.
That race left a mark on me.
Running through the mountains, along exposed ridgelines, tackling tough technical trails and being surrounded by incredible wilderness showed me what a true adventure run could be. Later, races like the legendary Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run in Colorado further fuelled that vision.
Fast forward to today, and those experiences helped shape what the Scenic Rim Ultra has become.
I wanted to create an event that wasn’t just about the distance, but about the adventure. Big climbs, remote trails, epic views, rugged terrain and a genuine sense of achievement when you cross that finish line.
What blows me away now is that runners are travelling from America, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, across Asia and all over Australia to experience what we’ve built right here in the Scenic Rim.
Standing back in Falls Creek recently brought it all full circle. It’s amazing where one race can take you.
