We celebrate this muddy medium and the South Australian artists and craftspeople who work with it through an annual market at Woodville Town Hall.

Pia Kuykhoven is a contemporary artist based in the Southern suburbs of Adelaide. She works full-time from her backyard studio, nestled within a flourishing garden.

Originally trained and working as a successful landscape designer, Pia’s deep connection to gardens traces back to childhood. One of her earliest and formative influences was her great aunt’s cottage garden - an enchanting space alive with colour, scent, and story. From taking cuttings as a child to cultivating a garden from broken concrete on the wharf where she grew up, Pia has long used plants to make meaning and beauty from her surroundings.

After years of working in digital manufacturing, industrial designer Deanna Wilson founded Morph & Mould.

This design-led porcelain studio is located in Brown Hill Creek on Kaurna Country. Each piece starts as a drawing then a digital model, then a prototype that is reworked until the proportions are right. Only then is a plaster mould made by hand, always original to the studio. Pieces are slip cast in porcelain, finished by hand, and fired to cone 10. Each piece is glazed inside while the outside is left raw.

South Australian maker Aimee creates bright, wheel-thrown ceramics inspired by a character of her own creation: Lazy Clementine. The carefree, whimsical woman pops up on Aimee’s ceramics serving as a gentle reminder to slow down, embrace imperfection, and find joy in life’s simple moments.

Aimee’s work is an invitation to embrace play and whimsy - bringing colour and joy to everyday spaces.

Abe Ceramics is a small ceramics studio based in North Adelaide.

At Abe Ceramics functional wheel-thrown pieces are designed to become a part of everyday rituals. Every piece is handmade in small batches using durable midfire clay in a collection of earthy, thoughtfully developed glazes inspired by the Australian landscape. Alongside its collection of handmade tableware, Abe Ceramics is home to a busy teaching studio where students discover the joy of working with clay.

It’s no secret that pulling off South Australia’s biggest celebration of ceramics requires a huge amount of time, dedication, and love. Founder Ashlee Hopkins knew that she would need to find a co-conspirator to bring the 2026 vision to life. And her first call was to South Australian ceramic artist and long time friend Khoa Edgecombe

Khoa brings a decade of market experience to the team with extensive knowledge about being a successful stall holder. Khoa will be replying to emails and ensuring that our 2026 makers are looked after, plus assisting with many aspects of the market behind-the-scenes.

“Having known Ash for almost 10 years and studied with her at UniSA, it was an honour to have been asked to assist her in organising this year’s event.

I look forward to working with you all to create another exciting and successful market where we get to showcase the amazingly talented ceramic artists in South Australia.“

PS it’s pronounced “kwah” … kinda rhymes with mwah? 💋

Want to present your work at South Australia’s biggest celebration of handmade ceramics?

Applications are currently open for our November 2026 event. We’ve put together some helpful information for you:
🩵 We only accept applications from South Australians who work with ceramics. We don’t accept any other type of maker - but we WILL consider local tool makers who specialise in tools for potters!
🩵 You’ll need to be present for both days of the market - the perfect time to meet new collectors, ceramics lovers, and your fellow South Australian ceramics community members.
🩵 This year stalls will include a Velcro friendly back wall so you can go to town with branding or artistic touches to bring your mini shop to life!
