MEET YOUR MAKERS: Allways Coffee

Allways Coffee is a family-run, zero-waste specialty coffee crew based right here in Adelaide. We work with twelve of the city’s best independent roasters and pack everything in fully compostable, planet-friendly materials. No foil. No plastic. Nothing heading to landfill. Our whole mission is simple: make great coffee accessible, sustainable and seriously enjoyable.

What started as Mikey and the family shipping out coffee in compostable bags has grown into a community of flavour chasers, eco-thinkers and caffeine-dependent legends across SA. Whether it’s subscriptions, beans for home, events or our pop-ups, everything we do supports small Adelaide roasters and keeps things local.

We’ll be keeping all the ceramic lovers fuelled at the market with hot coffee, iced coffee and freshly roasted beans to take home.

Sign up for a subscription on the day and you’ll score a free small coffee too.

MEET YOUR MAKERS: Ku Arts

“Ku Arts is the South Australian support organisation for Aboriginal artists and art centres. Since 1998, we have provided advocacy, support services, creative skills and professional development opportunities for artists and arts workers across all stages of their careers. We do this work under the direction of a First Nations board of Directors and in support of a strong and diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visual arts sector that centres the self-determination and wellbeing of artists.

Ku Arts will present works at Adelaide Ceramics Market produced during creative and professional development workshops held across the state in 2025. This includes works from Ngapala Arts located on Adnyamathanha Yarta, nearly 600km from Adelaide in a small town called Copley; and works produced at Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation’s Press Road Studio.“

MEET YOUR MAKERS: Stephanie James-Manttan

“Stephanie James-Manttan is a production potter and ceramic artist inspired by the collective movements of nature — the murmuration of birds, the schooling of fish, and the quiet intelligence that emerges when many act as one. Through form, texture, and glaze, she echoes
these rhythms in functional ceramics.”

MEET YOUR MAKERS: Ashlee Hopkins

“Reflecting on the rich landscapes of South Australia, the surfaces of Ashlee’s work are complex and full of texture. Exploring the material agency of locations that hold dear to her memory, her practice juxtaposes foraged sands and ochres with slips and contemporary ceramic materials like underglaze. From rich earthy outback desert tones, to softer blushes of colour referencing her Spring garden, her predominantly functional works are full of life and pops of colour.

Ashlee works from her home studio on Kaurna Yarta. Her works are held in numerous private collections, as well as commercial settings such as the restaurants at Hentley Farm and Magill Estate. She graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Ceramics) from the UniSA in 2016. She then went on to complete the JamFactory’s Associate Training Program in 2018 where she stayed on as a studio tenant and short course teacher. Appointed as Production Manager of the JamFactory Ceramics Studio from 2020-2021, Ashlee designed multiple products for the jam product range, and pioneered a short course in conjunction with ACH Group specifically for students with various neurological disorders. Since 2021, Ashlee has worked closely with Ku Arts to facilitate workshops in remote communities across the state with a focus on creative and professional development opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists. This work follows on from previous engagements with Ernabella Arts in the APY Lands from 2016-2019.

In 2025, Ashlee is incredibly proud to be presenting Adelaide Ceramics Market.”

MEET YOUR MAKERS: Susan Frost

Susan Frost is a ceramic artist known for her captivating porcelain vessels that explore the interplay of colour, form and decoration.

Working from her home studio, Susan’s work is thrown on a potters wheel before intricate designs are layered and etched by hand onto the clay surface. Inspired by architectural adornment and patterns found in the urban landscape, they are meticulously placed to flow continuously around the form.

The materiality of the porcelain is exploited through long, hot firings where the vessel reaches vitrification, achieving strength and translucency. This ensures the robustness of every piece making them dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.

MEET YOUR MAKERS: Fruzsi Kenez

“Fruzsi is a visual artist living on unceded Kaurna Yerta, whose practice is steeped in Hungarian folklore and mysticism as well as climate concerns and the natural world.

Having recently completed an artist residency and solo exhibition at Sauerbier House, Fruzsi will bring to market unique gas-fired stoneware sculptures created in conversation with the Ngangkiparri river and a special 19th century book of Hungarian poetry.

Fruzsi is perhaps best known for facilitating dynamic handbuilding classes locally and regionally. November & December dates will soon be listed for Adelaide and Mount Gambier.“
