The fifth round of the Victorian Motor Racing Championship (VMRC) took place at Winton Motor Raceway and was headlined by an enthralling endurance race, the Viola Private Wealth Winton 300.

The 2025 edition of the Viola Private Wealth Winton 300 at Winton Motor Raceway race recap.

After a crazy last couple of weeks, we managed to get the car repaired enough to be able to make it. Literally finishing up our "patch work" repairs the morning we left Sydney for Winton.

After a very promising qualifying session on Saturday, we were confident in our pace and the race was going to be a good one.

Aaron started the race in P6 and made it through a chaotic first few laps and settled into a groove with quick and consistent laps. On lap 31 a safety car was called and we decided to tick off our first compulsory pit stop of 5 minutes. The team electing to refuel the car to get to the end with Aaron staying behind the wheel. He continued on and got back into his groove navigating lapped traffic and keeping a consistent gap to the cars around us. Around lap 60 Aaron found himself in the lead of the race as others had completed their compulsory stops but we still had one more 2.5 minute to serve. We pitted on lap 68 where Matthew jumped in to take the car to the chequered flag.

Matthew was setting some quick times and maintained the lead, trying to keep a gap to a fast paced car in division A chasing him down. Everything was looking like it had lined up to be a perfect run for us this time around but unfortunately when Matthew started lap 96 the car started to fuel surge into turn 1. He brought it back to the pitlane while the team were scrambling for any fuel that we had leftover just to get us to the end. Matthew managed to make it back on track to the finish P4 outright and P3 in class B.

Although we had just run short on fuel we have lots of positives to take home with us after yet another 300 win just slips through our fingers. The whole team had a great weekend away racing and the car drove back on the trailer which was more than what we could do at One Raceway only two weeks ago.
