One hundred years ago, 18 competition classes, a handful of entries, and one very impressive pound cake started something special at the Royal Adelaide Show.

Today, Cookery has grown to 188 classes, and classics like jams, scones, damper and plum pudding have never left. A century of home cooks, bakers and makers, all sharing what they love most.

Over the course of its existence, Cookery has remained one of the most beloved events at the Royal Adelaide Show, popular with competitors and visitors alike!

We’re looking for one lucky class, sporting team, club, or community group to become our 2026 Official Showbag Testers at the Showbag Launch!

HOW TO ENTER: Get creative and tell us, if you could send a showbag back in time to a kid from 100 years ago, what would you put inside it and what do you think would blow their mind? Simply tell us in 50 words or less, or upload an image or short 30 second video.

Competing categories include breads, savoury pastries, patisserie, sweet goods, gluten free and the coveted apprentice/trainee/TAFE award. This is South Australia's premier stage for bakers and industry newcomers alike to benchmark their skills and put their name on the Australian baking map.
