Last weekend, the SA Chapter of The Nappy Collective transformed our Brick Dairy Pavilion into a hub of generosity, receiving and sorting nappies donated by South Australians over recent months.

Thanks to an incredible team of volunteers, a remarkable 23,190 nappies were counted and prepared for distribution to families in need — more than 6,000 more than last year.

As Australia’s only charity dedicated solely to providing nappies to families in crisis, The Nappy Collective delivers practical support to those doing it tough, helping ensure children have access to the essentials they need for a healthy start in life.

We're proud to support organisations like The Nappy Collective and remain committed to strengthening community connections, fostering inclusion, and upholding the Adelaide Showground's role as a vibrant community hub for South Australia.

🎨🧵 This week in our competitor story series, we're celebrating the talented artists and makers behind our Junior Textiles and Art competitions.

Whether it's seeing your work on display, connecting with fellow creatives, or inspiring others to take the leap and enter, our competitors say the experience is about so much more than ribbons and prizes.

Their stories remind us that every exhibit starts with the courage to put your creativity out into the world!

Congratulations to Natalie Saywell, recipient of the 2025 Philip Laffer Royal Adelaide Wine Show Bursary.

A first-year Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology student, Natalie was selected from a strong field of applicants from across Australia, impressing the judging panel with her passion for agricultural science, commitment to the wine industry and clear vision for her future career.

Established in honour of one of South Australia's most respected winemakers, the annual bursary provides $5,000 in financial support, to help develop the next generation of Australian wine industry leaders.

Did you know free samples have been part of the Adelaide Show since the 1920s? Back then, Show-goers would head home loaded up with enough shaving soap and boot polish to last until Christmas! Over time those samples got bundled into bags, and just like that, the humble showbag was born.

In this video our Museum Archivist Jade walks us through 100 years of showbag history, pulling out some incredible pieces from our archives along the way.

🛍️ Want to be our 2026 Official Showbag Testers? We are looking for one lucky class, sporting team, club, or community group to be the first to test this year's showbags at the Showbag Launch! Tell us in 50 words or less what you would put in a showbag to send back in time to a kid from 100 years ago. Entries close 30 June, winner announced 20 July. Head to https://www.theshow.com.au/ to enter!

To mark 100 years of cookery, ABC Adelaide has unveiled a new category - “South Australia in a Jar”

Presented by Afternoons host Jo Laverty, South Australians are challenged to create a preserve that showcases a true SA flavour or ingredient.
Entries can be jam, chutney or relish so long as they feature something distinctly South Australian, whether that’s locally grown produce or a well-known SA taste.

👑 King's Birthday fun fact!

The Royal Adelaide Show wasn't always "Royal"!

In 1867, His Royal Highness Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, became the first member of the British Royal Family to visit Australia. During his visit to South Australia, he opened the Adelaide Show and agreed to become patron of the Agricultural and Horticultural Society of SA.

When his patronage was formalised in 1868, the Society earned the right to use the prestigious "Royal" prefix — and the Royal Adelaide Show was born.

More than 150 years later, we're still proudly carrying on that royal tradition. 👑✨
