This year has been a challenging one so far. Carrying out the efforts of everyday life can be tough enough - and living with our new reality of COVID-19 is quite another challenge to be navigated.
Industries across the world will be hard-hit and as people enact social distancing measures and postpone their holidays, our restaurant and accommodation business will surely feel the pressure. As events are cancelled and travel declines, we are all considering how to continue to move forward.
Though this situation can feel frightening and stressful, we are practicing a calm, flexible, and compassionate mindset.
We've chosen to see this as an opportunity to slow down and practice kindness. To help our neighbours. Comfort our community. To remember that, beneath all the chaos of modern life, there is room for harmony and care. We are all humans, each of us trying the best that we can.
Oscar's on the Yarra is open for business, and remains a place of peace and relaxation. We are blessed with wide-open spaces and fresh air. If you're feeling like you need some time away - even for a short escape - know that you are always welcome here.
Though our normal standards of cleanliness are high, we have expanded upon these protocols in our kitchen, restaurant, and housekeeping operations. We care deeply about the health of our guests and staff, and we're taking extra steps to ensure that we're doing our part in maintaining high standards of hygiene and care.
We're asking all of our guests to be considerate of their fellow travellers by following recommendations from the World Health Organization to minimise the transference of viruses (washing hands with soap and water, avoid touching the face where possible, etc). We are also asking that guests who have been to Australian or international public exposure sights seek advice from health authorities, and to inform us of any change in health during and after staying with us.
And last, but not least, we are asking our community to practice mindfulness in our everyday activities. Remember to breathe. Remember to care for your mind as carefully as you care for your body. Remember to care for each other. We will overcome this challenge - and we will be stronger for it.
Below are some resources to help you take care of your whole self. They are simple but effective ways to improve your quality of life while you navigate this challenging time.
And remember that if you need to escape now to find some quiet, or when you're ready to venture out after all of this settles, we'll be here.
