The Little Theatre Company

The Little Theatre Company Based in Melbourne's West, The Little Theatre Company creates spaces to support community tell the stories we need to hear. Kaarin Fairfax 2023

Our main programs include drama classes for young people in Point Cook and Café Philosophique. Founded by Kaarin Fairfax, The Little Theatre Company (LTC) has had many reincarnations. It has always been our aim to encourage artists to be the best they can be. We love to nurture young burgeoning talent, guiding our artists in a way that is wholesome and encouraging, while instilling an understandin

g of the arts industry and how it works. In Australia we need to expand our pool of writers and creators so there is fair and equal opportunity for all artists to find their voices and express their views. We will then see the innovation and growth our industry so desperately needs. We love to play, we love to create and we love to dream. We at The Little Theatre Company strive to bring together a community of people wanting to work together in a shared and nurturing experience.

I hope you will join us in making this happen.

To get us warmed up, we will kick off Café Philosophique: Death with a performance from the one and only zen cowboy Kim Cheshire.

An ARIA nominated country music singer/songwriter Kim's latest album is titled Looks Like Heaven. The title track was inspired by a TV interview Kim saw with an elderly woman reflecting on her recent near death experience. The interview had him reflecting on his own mortality, which he has now penned into 10 tracks that draw on grief, love and loss.

Following Kim's performance will be a Writing Through Grief Workshop - led by Amanda Anastasi - an open mic and philosophy café conversations!

Don't miss our last session for 2025!

Meet our feature poet for next Wednesday's Café Philosophique: The Future!

Passionate about bringing together art and science, Alicia Sometimes is a poet, artist and broadcaster. Her latest book is Stellar Atmospheres, in which she writes:

"From the first moment I listened to stories about the night sky, I fell in love with astronomy and physics. Not just the stars or galaxies but also the why and how of it all.

What happened before the Big Bang? What are we made of? How will the universe end? I am not a scientist, just eternally curious and have made scientific research the basis for a great deal of my poetry. The cosmos is endlessly fascinating. And writeable."

Don't miss Alicia perform poetry drawing on deep time, from the past well into the future.
