This week we welcome ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ป to Dancenorth as part of our ๐๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ (๐.๐ฅ.๐ง.) ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ.
Rebecca is a dancer, choreographer and teacher, born in Tฤmaki Makaurau (Auckland) in 1988 and based in Naarm. Her work spans theatres, galleries and unconventional spaces, alongside participatory projects and video. She works through dance, utilising its equally speculative and practical qualities to encourage reflection, connection and transformation.
Her work has been presented at Tempo Festival (2019, 2024), Nelson Arts Festival (2024), FRAME Biennale (2023), INDANCE Sydney Dance Company (2025), Kier Choreographic Award (2016, 2022), Front Beach Back Beach (2022), CONTACT HIGH, Gertrude Glasshouse (2021) and PAGEANT New York (2025), Blindside Gallery (2021), College Dance, La Biennale di Venezia (2018) and Dance Massive (2015, 2017). With Sarah Aiken she has co-directed participatory dance project Deep Soulful Sweats, presented across Australia and internationally since 2013.
Rebecca has worked extensively as a performer with choreographers including Jo Lloyd, Lucy Guerin Inc, Shelley Lasica, Harrison Ritchie Jones, Lee Serle, Sandra Parker and Adam Linder. She is a DanceWEB scholar (2015), Australia Council Citรฉ internationale des arts resident (2020), former Resident Director of Lucy Guerin Inc (2023), and a Gertrude Contemporary Studio Artist (2024โ26).
