🏴 Queensland State Championships Band Spotlight
🎶 Brisbane Boys’ College Pipe Band
In the lead up to the much anticipated QLD State Pipe Band Championships, each day we will be highlighting a band or two from this year's draw. Starting off the series with our gracious hosts for the 2026 QLD Pipe Band Championships.
Formed in 1940, the Brisbane Boys’ College Pipe Band has become one of Australia’s most recognised and internationally respected school pipe band programs. Today, the program includes approximately 120 students across three competing bands, providing young musicians with opportunities to perform and compete at the highest level both nationally and internationally.
Over the years, BBC has proudly represented Australia at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo and major championships throughout Scotland. In 2026, the band was honoured to be selected as the only school pipe band in the world to perform at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Brisbane and Auckland.
The current band tartan, Ancient Hunting MacLean, incorporating the College colours of green, white and black, was introduced in 1976 and has become synonymous with the BBC Pipe Band identity.
