It is with sadness that we farewell Frank Sator, a long-standing friend and supporter of the Furlan Club. Frank and Alberta were constant figures in our community activities and functions, recognised for his gracious demeanor and warm smile that will be sadly missed.

INCREDIBLE NEWS TO SHARE!

Council has VOTED YES!
Our beloved Furlan Club is now protected under a temporary Heritage Overlay.

You didn’t just support a cause.
You backed a Story, a Legacy & Home.

This decision gives our Club the chance to breathe again — to stand tall as a symbol of resilience, culture, and community unity. The walls built by our elders now have a shield — and we built it together.

We will be keeping this petition live — because now, the real work begins.
We’re taking our mission to Parliament.
This petition will grow over the coming months, reaching local, state, national, and international voices.

…this was never just about a vote to preserve the Furlan Club —
this is a message to all:
Community matters. History matters. Culture matters. People power matters.

And where there is darkness —
look closely.
There is always a light ready to shine brighter.
All we need is courage, faith, and good old belief.
Do the work — and anything is possible.

With love, with pride, and unwavering spirit —
Grazie. Andiamo avanti. The Italian-Australian, Furlan spirit lives on!

The Furlan/Italian heritage has a home in Matisi St that has strong ties with the multicultural community of Australia. It's important to keep these strong ties bound to our roots our founders have laid.

One Year On: A Tribute to Our Club, Our Community, and Our Legacy

Today marks one year since the devastating fire that left our historic club inaccessible to our community. While the damage was limited, ongoing restrictions have prevented us from returning to the place where family, friends, the community and generations have gathered for decades.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, there have been several concerning attempts to alter the future of our beloved community icon without proper transparency. Despite less than 30% of the building being damaged, obstacles have been placed in the way of its restoration and preservation. These challenges have made it increasingly difficult for us to reclaim and protect this important part of our heritage.

Yet, our commitment remains unwavering. We stand united in our determination to safeguard our club’s legacy and ensure it remains a place for generations to come.

Our club is more than just bricks and mortar. It was built with the hands and hearts of our founders—post-war immigrants who came to Australia seeking a better life. They created this club as a home away from home, a place where friendships were forged, where love stories began, and where families grew. Generations gathered here, bound by tradition, laughter, and an unbreakable sense of belonging.

Since the fire, we have mourned the loss of cherished members—people who held onto the hope that our club would rise again. Though they are no longer with us, we carry their spirit with us and dreams forward. We continue this fight in their memory, for our current members, for our children, and for the future of our community.

Until the day we can once again call our club home, we remain its guardians. We will continue to cherish it, protect it, and keep its spirit alive. Because our club is more than just a building—it is the heart of our community, and that heart will never stop beating.
