Especially for the hundreds of people who came to stay from outside the Kiewa Valley last weekend and can not easily grab a copy…. attached is the local newspaper article to read with a short summary of your day up the highest mountain in Victoria!

Thanks to This Week in Falls Creek & Mount Beauty for the two page article in our local paper.

The event is always held on the Saturday before the March long weekend, so in 2027 that date is Saturday 27th February 2027!

240 people took part in the 46th Mount Bogong Conquestathon on 28th February 2026!
The highest mountain in Victoria 1986m !

It’s never only about the winning or coming first at Mount Bogong, we only encourage everyone to come prepared with the correct equipment, so that you can safely enjoy the day with others in an alpine environment and to feel proud of your personal achievement!

Although a mention to Altra Running who provided us with free shoes for the first across the line in both male and female Under 18, Over 18 and to all three members of the Fastest Team!
This year the fastest team of three people were from Trail Running Holon ! Congratulations !
Congratulations ⭐️🏃‍♀️⭐️🏃‍♂️

The fastest team were also were awarded a $250 gift voucher for Settlers Tavern in Tawonga South.

That voucher and dozens more were awarded as AGL sponsored Spot Prizes to be spent within local businesses of Mount Beauty, Tawonga South and Tawonga.

AGL in Mount Beauty provided $2,000 towards these Spot Prizes to go towards being spent within our local community!

What an enjoyable day out on the highest mountain in Victoria!! 1986 metres up!!

240 people hiked and ran up and over MOUNT BOGONG !

🚗🚫PARKING AT MOUNTAIN CREEK CAMPGROUND and CARPOOLING🚗⭐️

Saturday 28th February 2026

Parking is extremely limited 🏔️ and we ask that you car pool, or arrange to be dropped off if living local.

There is only one road into Mountain Creek Campground and this road needs to be accessible by emergency services including fire trucks at all times.

Parking will take place along the side of Mountain Creek Road and in places only on one side to not block emergency trucks or other vehicles.

Parking Marshals will assist, so please comply with their request of where to park, but we ask you to be dropped off, or car-pool from home or arrange to meet others in Mount Beauty/Tawonga before driving to Mountain Creek.

There is an open private property paddock some 400m from the event hub –
- The owner of this property has advised there is strictly NO parking allowed on that property -

Feel welcome to comment below and help arrange carpooling to avoid cars being parked kilometres down the road…
(you have far enough to hike next Saturday without hiking to the start line first because of too many cars parked)!

Avoid the early morning rush of registration and mandatory gear check and collect your bib and pre ordered shirt on Friday afternoon in Mount Beauty between 1700h to 1930h or very early Saturday morning, 0610h at Mountain Creek Campground.

Download via our website the course map, GPX and view the course flyover to gain a visual appreciation of the 1410 meters of elevation 🥵 in only the first 9km up Staircase Spur followed by the 12km descent via Camp Creek Gap back to Mountain Creek!

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT INCLUDING FOOD AND WATER:
YES, THE MANDATORY EQUIPMENT IS … MANDATORY !

Checking of equipment at registration will occur before you are provided with your bib number and timing chip and we want everyone who registers to be able to participate...

You will not be permitted to participate in the event if you do not have the mandatory equipment at registration.

One of our aims of encouraging people to join in the awesome experience of Mount Bogong Conquestathon with the support of other people, is also to help everyone understand the significance of being prepared for when something does not go to plan and you are on the ground, getting cold waiting hours into the night for a response to a Triple Zero call when going hiking/running at anytime and not only for an event!

This is especially important in an alpine environment.
- Keep yourself safe and prepared.
- This is for your own safety and all event volunteers, but more importantly, taking responsibility for yourself every time you go hiking/running for when you might be caught out longer than expected.

The weather conditions vary greatly in alpine environments, especially between what is being experienced at Mountain Creek Campground and Mount Bogong Summit.
Weather can change within minutes at higher altitudes.

Now is a great time to check that you have adequate and up to date Ambulance Membership from your permanent state of residence, if Triple Zero is called.

You will not be permitted to participate in the event if you do not have the following items at gear check and registration:

You are responsible for carrying your own first aid kit and personal medications

● Waterproof Jacket with hood
● Thermal top
● **Snake bite bandage **(proper one with indicator squares for correct firm compression, if you get bitten by one or more of our Mount Bogong venomous snakes you are going to wish you bought the real bandage with the indicator squares)!
● Water (minimum 2L)
● Phone (download the Emergency Plus App)
● Whistle
● Space blanket
● Personal Medications (eg:EpiPen and Asthma)
● Food/lunch and snacks /energy bars and bags to carry out toilet paper or waste if you can't use toilets at the 2 toilets on course.
• Event bib number (with any medical conditions written on the back in case of emergency)

Scheduled on 28th February 2026, this event attracts the majority of entrants from outside our three closest local postcodes of 3697, 3698 and 3699.

Given the very early morning go-time of 7am, (no late starts)
many people participating will require accommodation on the Friday night before and after the hike of Mount Bogong on Saturday to fully enjoy a weekend in the Kiewa Valley.

Between Tawonga, Tawonga South and Mount Beauty, there are several local accommodation choices and outdoor pursuits to enjoy during your visit.

A very challenging mountain to hike or run and better supported with a team, so get a few friends to help you train up and prepare

Mt Bogong Conquestathon is a 100% volunteer led, local community event which supports Mount Beauty, Tawonga South and Tawonga businesses through the numerous spot prize vouchers which are awarded to participants and from the majority of participants who travel to get here.
Many of you will seek out local Kiewa Valley accommodation options to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday.

Take time after the event to enjoy cooling off in the Kiewa River and to enjoy the numerous shops and hospitality venues in the Kiewa Valley during the weekend.
