The occasion is rejoiced in the Bhadra month according to the Indian calendar which generally falls between mid-August and September. The festival is enthusiastically celebrated not just in India but also in various other countries which include Nepal and by the Hindu diaspora elsewhere such as in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Trinidad and other parts of the Caribbean, Fiji, South Africa, United States, and Europe. Ganesh Chaturthi in our community is a one-day festival when all the ardent devotees and attendees gather to celebrate the birth of Lord Ganesh with unwavering faith and enthusiasm. It is a celebration intended to invite people from all walks of life together in a Multicultural country like Australia and exhibit the culture and traditions of one of the most essential and popularly celebrated festivals of India. The event comprises plenty of food stalls, market stalls, rides, and an entertainment podium. An incredibly alluring stage is made to place the meticulously carved 5 feet idol of Lord Ganesh for darshan and to perform rituals. The aura created would be divine and celestial, an ambiance like no other. The idol is embellished with fragrant flowers by the priest after performing the rituals. An array of dance performances and traditional music activities shall be conducted throughout the day to magnify the celebrations and enthusiasm of the attendees. The program would also include cheerful games for children along with local offerings by the inhabitant business community. Later in the evening, the โLadduโ shall be auctioned as part of the tradition. We have successfully organized this festival for the last 5 years, and this is our 6th consecutive year in 2021. We intend to continue this tradition each year, amplifying the celebration consequently.
