Yarns and some weaving on Gomeroi Country. It was amazing to watch Tiarne here open up as she built up confidence with the deadly Rachel and Amy.

Hands on learning is such an effective way to pass on knowledge but also for our young ones to connect to others and community.

We see it alot. Young ones expected to build up confidence in between the confines of 4 walls / classrooms from such a young age, which for alot of mob is such a new form of teaching and education. Encouraging our young people to connect through traditional methods is pivotal in empowering them and gaining a sense of identity through their own culture.

Culture is powerful and there's a reason why it has existed for tens of thousands of years.

Jingi walla from beautiful Wahlubal Country.

This little slice of country here was captured just North of Tabulam. Windy, hilly, gravel and rock sections made for some very 'interesting' riding. One we are excited to explore again and a great option to avoid cycling from Tabulam through Casino along the Bruxner Highway.

We were lucky with a lack of high rainfall prior, otherwise this route in particular would have been a no- go.

The journey from Githabul to Gomeroi Country is not unique to us in the 20th and 21st century.

Songlines connect mob and journeys travelled from these regions to South, East, West and North. Now, we have large, smooth scars that help us navigate - bitumen.

However not too long ago, rivers, mountains, gulleys, stars, trees and change of flora connected us all.

TOUGH AS NAILS

How to ride 1100km in a week and have a good time?
Find yourself a super Columbian Domestique like

No complaining, no whining, just got the job done and enjoyed the festivities after with a smile on his face.

In a world full of division, we need more advocates and supporters of the mob like Javier here. Skin colour, langauge, race, doesn't matter. Just turning up for the mob and each other!

Meet Rossy boy.

This young fella from Toomelah inspired us over the weekend on Gomeroi Country.

As soon as the large yidaki blanks were pulled out Ross was determined to strip as much bark off as possible, a spark in his eye and a deadly new jacket. Watching, listening. Aweme - to hear, understand and listen.

His stick had a few holes which were plugged eventually with a mixture of saw dust and pva wood glue which makes a putty (really hard to gather any saw dust over the weekend with some big westerlies blowing through).

A day of sanding and some paint or oil/ coating and Ross' yidaki will be complete.

We'll see you soon to complete that yidaki, neph.
