When the nights get longer, Sydney comes out to play.

You might know Vivid Sydney as the festival of lights, transforming our icons into glowing canvases of creativity. But millions of visitors also come to dine and to dance; be entertained and be inspired; to wander and to discover; and to make memories that last a lifetime.

This was the year you had the opportunity to create magic.

We invited people from across the globe to create their own light show to dance across Sydney Harbour and Circular Quay for 30 seconds … and boy did you deliver!

From Canberra to Colombo, Warsaw to Wagga Wagga, our inbox was flooded with unique designs from every corner of the world. The team at Mandylights brought dreams to life with projections known as Your Connected City. 🎨

The global submissions have been intertwined with Mandylights’ own synchronised displays of colour using dynamic lasers, searchlights and projections, transforming the Sydney Harbour and local landmarks into a fully connected canvas running across the evening each night of the festival.

There was only one composer that could deliver a score to match the scale of this iconic light show. Viral Australian composer Bailey Pickles created a bespoke soundtrack that powered the city, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and skyscrapers all perfectly synced to his vision.

Bailey Pickles: “It was a pleasure getting to score Sydney City! Huge thank you to Vivid Sydney for having me.”

Are you heading to this weekend? 🌃✨ If so, we’ve got a few transport tips to make your night a little smoother (and your experience even better):

🚆 Make the most of the Metro! Start your free Light Walk experience from Gadigal Metro (if visiting Darling Harbour), or Barangaroo Metro (if visiting Circular Quay, The Rocks or Barangaroo) and explore the festival on foot.

🚉 Trains will not stop at Circular Quay from 6pm-11pm on Saturday nights. Use Wynyard, Martin Place or St James stations instead.

🚋 Light Rail services will not run between Town Hall and Circular Quay from 6pm on Fridays and 5pm on weekends. You can continue on foot from Town Hall.

🚌 Buses that usually stop at Circular Quay will now start and end trips at Martin Place from 6pm on Friday evenings and 5pm on weekends.

⛴️ Ferries are a spectacular (and popular!) way to experience Vivid Sydney, expect queues on weekends.

🚗 If you’re travelling by rideshare, Uber pickup zones are located throughout the festival precincts to help make getting to and from the action easier. You can also scan the QR codes at pickup zones to play the Uber Backseat Arcade while you wait or ride home.

👚 Our friendly volunteers are in pink jackets and our info booths supply kids ID wristbands.

There will be changes to transport services while roads are closed, so make sure to plan ahead. And remember, you don't have to see it all in one night, so take your time and explore the festival across a few evenings.

How quickly can you pack and stack digital grocery items? Find out when you race against the clock at Foodbank Truck Packer in Tumbalong Park! ⏰

Reminiscent of popular falling block games, this interactive puzzle experience is a fun way to see the scale of Foodbank NSW & ACT’s work to get food where it’s needed most. Whilst playful, the installation shines a light on the urgent need for food relief across NSW and the ACT, where one in three households are experiencing food insecurity.

As the Charity Partner for 2026, we’re proud to support Foodbank NSW & ACT in its tireless work delivering food to those doing it tough. ❤️‍🩹
