🎉 We are delighted to announce a major donor milestone and the naming of the Dawson Lee Chair in Chinese Culture – with thanks to the generosity of Mr James Lee and Mrs Monica Lee, in honour of Mr Lee's late father, Mr Dawson Lee.

Head of School Professor Avril Alba, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Lisa Adkins, and inaugural Chair incumbent Professor Yingjie Guo met with Mr and Mrs Lee in recognition of the significant milestone and their enduring contribution to the Discipline of Chinese Studies.

📢 Applications are now open for the 2027 Sydney China Distinguished Fellowship
The Discipline of Chiense Studies School of Languages and Cultures, University of Sydney and the China Studies Centre invite applications from outstanding scholars for the 2027 Sydney China Distinguished Fellowship.
Successful fellows will spend four weeks in Sydney, engaging with staff and students through lectures, seminars, teaching, and mentoring.

The Fellowship provides:
✈️ Return economy airfare
🏨 Accommodation support of up to AUD $200 per day
💰 Stipend of AUD $1,000 per week
🏢 Office space and library access
