What is a Volunteer in Our Community?
A volunteer is the quiet heartbeat of every strong community. They are the people who step forward — not for recognition, not for reward, but because they care. Our schools, neighbourhood centres, sporting associations, community groups, and even our elected representatives rely on volunteers to make things happen. Volunteers coach our kids, support our families, strengthen our neighbourhoods, and help shape the places we live.

They are the organisers, the helpers, the problem‑solvers, and the steady hands behind every local event, fundraiser, working bee, and community initiative. A volunteer is someone who shows up early, stays late, lends a hand, offers a smile, and gives their time so others can thrive.

This year at our festival, we are honouring those extraordinary individuals who have given 20 years or more of service to their community. These are the people whose dedication has spanned decades — people who have quietly built the foundations of connection, support, and belonging. Their contribution is woven into the fabric of our towns and organisations, and our community is stronger because of them.

Final call for nominations for community members who have volunteered for 20+ years across any area of service — schools, neighbourhood centres, sporting clubs, community organisations, charity groups, cultural associations, or civic and political support roles within our Springwood community.

FRIENDLY REMINDER:
Our priority is to support local small business owners first, followed by local market stalls (yes, we do check Google, so please be honest), then previous long‑term vendors, and finally we fill remaining spaces from our waiting list.
We aim for a balanced and interesting market, so we generally allow no more than two similar vendors.

FESTIVAL UPDATE:
The festival will be held on the 19th September this year.

Our small committee have had a number of personal challenges and we also for your patience at this time.

STALLS: once Springwood businesses are locked in, stallholders will be followed up. Go to our website and apply as per the normal processes, sites are not guaranteed but we do try to manage requests as best we can.
ENTERTAINMENT: apply on-line. 3 stages across the precinct.
AMUSEMENTS: KD Amusements will be attending and will be set up in the IGA carpark along with fair styled stalls.
SPONSORSHIP: lots of opportunities to support, our local festival which supports our community.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: weomg seek local volunteers to join our committee and help to make a difference.

On this Anzac Day, as we remember the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom, we are reminded of the privilege of belonging to a community that stands united and steadfast. We shall remember them. Lest we forget.
