We are super thrilled to host a very special guest DJ this Sunday spinning tunes with our resident DJ DJ Prince Mikey

Joel Hamlin is a collector and DJ proudly hailing from the north side of Melbourne. He is the cohost of the night ‘Get It Together’ and has been a regular attendee at soul weekenders around the country since 2013. Soul music is his obsession and it shines through in his DJ sets. From the rare to under played you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll hear nothing but tasty selections!

So grab some mates and head down to The Roosevelt Bar & Restaurant this Sunday from 4pm to catch these two in what will be a very special Sunday.

Sunday Soul is curated by the Sydney Soul Weekender crew, bringing you the best 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, Northern and rare soul DJs with the greatest record collections around.

We are super excited to welcome back to the decks this weekend at the home of Sunday Soul, .

Sister Savage has an excellent record collection with tonnes of top tunes to entertain you.

As usual, the Roosevelt has amazing food and drink specials on a Sunday, so head down and grab yourself a table with some friends and enjoy the end of the weekend with us!

As a few people have been asking for dates, we thought it best to give you all an update.

We are in the process of securing venues for this year’s Weekender. We will, however, be back at the Sydney Portugal Club for our Saturday all- dayer session!

Please put the weekend of 22-23 August in your diaries for this year’s Sydney Soul Weekender. Tickets will go on sale as soon as we secure all venues for the weekend.

Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Sydney Soul Weekender! It was such a great success, and that's all thanks to each and every one of you!

Big thanks also to the fabulous venues that hosted us: Sydney Portugal Community Club Limited & thebatandballhotel

We were able to make a $780 donation to GO Foundation with profits from the ticket sales. The GO Foundation provides educational scholarships for children and young people from Year 1 to university that empower young Indigenous Australians to thrive. We are very proud to support this charity again this year to help them continue the good work that they do.

Can't wait to do it all again next year, until then...

Just wanting to let people to know we are welcoming anyone for a catch-up Friday arvo from 4pm (happy hour 4-6) at the Bob Hawke Leisure Centre and Brewery. Very informal but good to know how big a table we should spread our handbags and coats across. Chinese was booked out but you can order food at the bar and Fiona Nevin has plans for a nearby bar later...

Closing out the Weekender with a soul-filled afternoon and evening featuring some of our finest DJs. Expect a journey from Northern Soul, Modern Soul to Funk, Boogie, and beyond. The Bat and Ball has been the venue of many soul nights over the years with Keith Miller often on the decks. We are also thrilled to welcome Sydney’s original Soul Sister, Sister Savage to the decks this year. DJ Kinetic also makes a return to join favourites Boogie Monster and Gian Arpino. This is a big lineup of soul DJs who have all shaped the Sydney soul and DJ scene over the last 20+ years.

The evening will keep the dance floor buzzing with Northern Soul, Soul, and Modern Soul favourites.
Stevie Hendry (Victoria) makes his Weekender debut with a high-tempo set of floor-fillers.
DJ Todd C (South Australia) a favorite on the Aussie soul scene returns to the Weekender after many years.

The Sydney Soul Weekender is back for 2025 with two big days on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of August.

As always, you’ll have some of Australia’s best Northern Soul and Modern Soul DJ’s with their record boxes full of great selections, bringing you classic rare and not so rare Northern Soul dance floor stompers as well as some great Modern Soul bangers.

We guarantee you 2 massive days of soul music all with wooden dance floors and fantastic sound systems!

Saturday all-dayer sees us back at the Sydney Portugal Community Club Limited at Frazer Park in the Club House, our third year at this fantastic venue.

Sunday we have secured the back room at the Bat and Ball Hotel in Surry Hills, a favourite venue in the past of the Sydney soul scene.

Both venues are close to public transport and entertainment areas, where you can find a bite to eat either at the venue or close by. We have you covered!
