A little fun fact for you. 3yrs ago I spoke to and asked him if he would be interested in playing a classics set for us. He is one of my all time favourites, I knew he would play the perfect set

His response? "No"

At the time he was heavily focused on his new projects, pushing his new sounds, and I totally respected that

However a few years later I had a chance conversation again, tried my luck again, and this time things had changed.

The story goes, Sean had recently played an event where another former WBW alumni was on the lineup. He heard Steve's set, in his typical classics style and had an epiphany. This classic sound, it's so full of emotion, intricacies, memories... It's the true trance sound. The sound that he loves. The crowd loves. And he realised he wants to play it more

And then not long after that, I approached him for WBW a second time. Perfect timing!

And when you hear the set he played for us (yes it was recorded and will be uploaded very soon!) you will see - Sean has absolutely converted to the WBW way off life, just as his shirt says 😊

I listen to old rave recordings on SoundCloud (follow "rave_on" if you're not already). And I hear this track so often. Armin played it all the time. A&B in their essential mix. It was massive for Tiesto and PVD.

I always wished I could be at those raves. Whether it's Armin Only in the Netherlands, or Cream Amnesia, Space Miami etc, experiencing this epic track live

It's got the best breakdown \ build up \ release ever in my opinion. The driving energy of the intro. The melody is so simple but so perfect. When it finally kicks in during the breakdown, it's like a little wave of ecstasy

This track is classic trance personified. The type of tracks they don't make, and definitely don't play anymore

I've played it a few times in my own sets, but I've never had the pleasure of hearing it live in the crowd, on a big system at any event, arm in arm with my friends, living in that moment

The DJ was
This event is Way Back When Melbourne
The track is Randy Katana - In Silence (Txitxarro Remix)

To my new Melbourne friends

IM SPEECHLESS JERRY, SPEECHLESS. I AM WITHOUT SPEECH!

Melbourne that was incredible last night. What a brilliant night from start to finish, but undoubtedly the biggest round of applause must go to who again delivered one hell of a classics set

OMG

I was privileged to have seen him last week in Sydney as well, and in all honesty? I think he went another level higher last night

His strategy over the 3hrs; the first 2hrs were his own favourite trance classics, and then the final hour were his productions.

We got Tyas productions. Anjuna classics. Driving tech trance. Everything that inspired Sean to first fall I love with trance

The energy all night? 10\10
The vibes of the boiler room set up? 10\10
The crowd response not just to the well known stuff but the underground anthems? 10\10

And just on a personal note from Sean, he said he had a fu***ng brilliant time playing for you guys, having a crowd full of people that have followed him for so long, it really meant the world to him

This is a track that holds a special place for him. Named after one of his favourite venues in the world. Of course it has to be Sean Tyas - Melbourne

-----------

Thank you so much Melbourne for coming out and keeping my dream of classic trance alive ❤️

- Tim

I wasn't really sure what to expect from Sean Tyas classic set in Sydney, everyone always has their own interpretation.

Would it just be 3hrs of his own productions? (Which would still be great btw!). Does "classic" mean tracks released in 2016?

Well when he's dropping gems like this: Midway - Inca, you know he absolutely is on the same page as the WBW playbook 👌

A proper proper classic, this was always championed by Tiesto back in the day. A perfect example of the type of trance we don't hear anymore

Sean Tyas classic set in Sydney was one of the best I've heard. Don't miss it in Melbourne this Saturday. Tickets in the bio

Another brilliant artist featured on our Sydney lineup this Saturday is Thomas Datt!

Making his long awaited return to the decks, he approached me at a previous WBW and said he wanted to get back into it. I thought there was no better opportunity than sharing the night with a former Discover records alumni Sean Tyas

Thomas Datt had a string of brilliant tracks in the mid 2000s, 2v2 (Discover), Seven Weeks (Anjunabeats), Tabla Mimza (Pure Trance) and brilliant remixes of Solid Globe - North Pole, Above & Beyond - Good for Me, and even Sean Tyas - Lift!

He's got a 2hr set he'll be playing mostly his classic productions, plus a few of his favourites from back in the day as well. Can't wait 🙌🏼

Tickets are in the bio, they're moving quickly now 👍🏼
