Our 2026 Golf Day fundraiser held on February 27 has been another great success with enough funds raised to support 6 nursing scholarships Goulburn Valley Health. Of course this great outcome would not be possible without the support of our wonderful major sponsors. A big thanks to Digital Document Solutions, Quicklift Crane Hire, Hot and Cold Shop and Shepparton Volkswagen for their support.

The year has absolutely flown and here we go again with our Annual Charity Golf Day in support of GV Health Foundation. We already have 31 teams of 4 entered but space for more if you are keen. $30000 from the proceeds of the day goes to GV Health Foundation to provide 6 x $5000 Post Graduate Nursing Scholarships. This program has been running for a number of years now and so far, all recipients have remained employed at GVHealth, improving the skill level and building the knowledge base of the staff. This is more important than ever, as the hospital continues to grow and add specialist services for the benefit of the Goulburn Valley and surrounding area.
We are totally indebted to our loyal sponsors, without them, this event would not be the success it is and we could not continue to provide the funds we do, to GV Health.
Our Guest Speaker this year is Sam Docherty. Sam is an ex AFL player who rose above significant challenges of injury and 2 bouts of Cancer, to continue his football dream. We are sure his inspirational story will touch your hearts.

🎤GUEST SPEAKER - TONY SHAW
Tony Shaw, born on July 23, 1960, is a distinguished figure in Australian rules football, celebrated for his enduring commitment to the Collingwood Football Club both as a player and coach.
➡ Shaw debuted for Collingwood in 1977. He was a tenacious midfielder known for his courage and
determination.
➡ Awarded Collingwood’s Copeland Trophy B&F player twice, in 1984 & 1990.
➡ Captaincy: Led the team as captain from 1987 to 1993.
➡ 1990 Premiership: Captained Collingwood to the 1990 premiership and was named
the winner of the Norm Smith Medal.
➡ Played 313 games
➡ After retiring as a player in 1994, Shaw coached Collingwood’s from 1996 to 1999.
➡ Beyond his on-field contributions, Shaw has been active in the media as a football commentator and analyst, sharing his extensive knowledge and insights into the game.

Our annual Golf Day is on 25th February and we already have a full field of 32 teams which is fantastic. Thanks to our regular supporters and a special thanks to our fabulous sponsors led by SpecSavers Shepparton, Quicklift, Hot and Cold Shop Shepparton and Shepparton Jaguar and Landrover.
Again, the majority of funds raised will go to GV Health for provision of post graduated scholarships for Nurses. This scheme has been extremely successful and aims to upskill committed nurses at GV Health, who not only improve their own skillset, but bring those skills to the other staff.
Our guest speaker this year is Dermott Brereton, ex Hawks star and now popular commentator on Fox Footy. He is known as a wild man, so looking forward to hearing his story.

A fantastic event today with lots of teams, great course and some amazing scores. David Rhys-Jones kept everyone entertained and the auction was well supported as usual. Thanks to SpecSavers our Major Soonsor and to Wuicklift and The Hot and Cold Shop our Gold Sponsors in particular, but also to Shepparton Volkswagen our Silver Soonsor and all the team Captains and players for your commitment to our day.
Most of the proceeds of the day go to GV Health for post grad scholarships for nursing staff. It was good to hear from Matt Jarvis, CEO of GV Health on the progress of upgrades and the current staffing challenges.

A reminder that our Charity Golf Day is coming up on 22nd February. Thanks to our sponsors and to those local businesses that have already entered teams, ensuring that we have a great day. We still have room for more teams, so get your entry in to be part of this fantastic day. Breakfast before you hit off, drinks on course and in the clubhouse after golf, lunch and guest speaker David Rhys-Jones. Lots of raffle prizes included in your entry and Goods and Services Auction during lunch.

Planning for our 2023 Charity Golf Day is well advanced and we already have lots of teams entered, but can always do with new ones. The proceeds of this day, significantly go to GV Health to provide Post Graduate Nursing Scholarships to help build the skills and knowledge of our local Nurses. Each Scholarship is $5000- and helps the recipients manage their workload, pay expenses, childcare etc., so they can study part time to improve their skills and ultimately, help the patients of GV Health achieve better outcomes.

What a fantastic day yesterday. Lots of fun for most of us, great commitment by our club members and valued support from our sponsors and teams.
Guest Speaker John Sylvester was great, underbelly type stories and insights always of interest to me, hard to comprehend the job our Police do day in and day out.
Thanks to everyone including Shepparton Golf Club for the awesome course snd facilities. Special congratulations to Rob Kelly and Phil Squires for their effort in pulling the whole thing together.
