Hello to our wonderful Sandgate Sunset Run runners, sponsors & loyal supporter. It's been a little while since we've touched base with you all, so it's time for an update - primarily, that the SSR won't be happening in 2019.
There's nothing bad, sad or disappointing behind the decision - just that we (Dean & Vanessa), as Event Directors for 5 years of the run, need a break! We have been so passionate about this community run since it started back in 2014, and obviously, that takes its toll after a while.
Our kids were very small when we started out & they have really grown up with it (we would often refer to the Sandgate Sunset Run as our 3rd child!) - but it's time to give them back some of the family time we've sacrificed by doing this every year. It's also quite a juggle with our paid work as well, so we feel this is the right time to take a breather & put more back into our own work and business.
Putting on an event like this has been extremely rewarding and we are so proud of how it's evolved over 5 years. We have been supported by the most incredible team of volunteers who's also poured their heart & souls into it, so we are very grateful!
We honestly can't tell you what the next step will be - we don't know yet whether it will be back in 2020 or not. We'll take the time to reassess & will be sure to keep you all posted on whatever happens next!
