If you haven’t registered for the Australia Day Regatta at McCrae yet… you should.
The forecast is awesome, the best we’ve seen all season!
I’m not involved so it will stay awesome, there’s music and great people enjoying what this great country has to offer.
Everyone is welcome, even if you sail an A Class, they also accommodate your special needs. 😉

For those not sailing or paddling in the Capel Sound Invitational now’s the time to sit down with your Cheese & Kabana, Piña Colada and listen.
Grab a pair of your favourite parachute pants and jump on your Redline with those sweet Tuffs and follow the fleet along the bay trail. That’s right, this isn’t an event just for the participants but for families too. Why should you be left out? It’s just not right. We keep the fleet as close to shore as possible so you can follow your loved ones up and down the CSI course!
You might be thinking, wow you’re not like a regular sailing event at all…and you’d be right. You’re about to witness moments that will ruffle some feathers, it will take time but it will be time well spent.
Watch this space, we are steeped in tradition but not limited by elitist ideologies.
Here comes the new dawn of sailing and ocean sports. Welcome aboard.

That’s right, it’s snowing in the North Pole, it’s cold but it’s not as cool as the Capel Sound Invitational, especially this year!
This edition isn’t just another regatta - it’s a full blown time warp. Neon sails, paddle power and big hair energy collide as we crank the dial back to the 80s, when mixed tapes were a currency, spandex was a weapon and the taipan was a dance move, not a catamaran.
If you’ve ever wanted to race like it’s 1985, now’s your shot…polish your sunnies, comb the mullet, slap some double “A”s in the Walkman and start planning now to join the ultimate throwback on water.
The website has had a slight refresh so hold on to your shoulder pads while we level up the 8-bit.

Governor Michele Bullock explains the Monetary Policy Board's decision to leave the cash rate unchanged at 3.60 per cent.
In her monthly statement the governor highlights increasing costs across all sectors with the exception of sailing sports.
The governor says events like the Capel Sound Invitational as a free event really drives down the cost of living against the trend of government policy settings. Sailing could be the silver bullet our economy is looking for.

3. Have you considered a membership at a Sailing Club before? A great place to start would be Rye Yacht Club Rosebud Yacht Club and McCrae Yacht Club go and check out all the benefits a sailing club has to offer you, there’s more than you think.

4. If your thinking of joining a sailing club then your going to need something to sail and there’s no better class to be involved with than the Windsurfer Class - Australia with their 50% fair racing, 50% fun ethos you simply can’t go wrong.

5. If you’re interested in sailing then you definitely need to subscribe to Bar Karate - The Sailing Podcast on your favourite podcast app. Jordan, Bret and Bicey (when he’s there 😜) love an entertaining yarn with sailors about all things sailing and is only 20% serious 50% of the time or something like that.

6. If entertainment is something you’re after in the sailing world then while you’re in the mood for subscribing make sure you subscribe to https://www.youtube.com/ for some very entertaining sailing videos and make sure you keep an eye out for Thomas Stuchbery on the course

7. Now you can’t get out on the water without some specialised technical wear designed for purpose from Vaikobi made for ocean performance this gear has you ripping around in comfort! Again another great xmas gift idea.

8. While we’re on the topic of performance check out Nikki Sailing AUS and the Junior Foiling Cup you’ll see these kids foiling around on the course at this event. These are the perfect first boat out of the sailing school for the kid that wants to get more out of their sailing.
