💬 The Convo Event 30

The Sacredness of the Believer: A Warning Against Slander

There are few things as sacred in our Deen as the honour of a believer, and few things as destructive as violating it.

In a world where words spread faster than actions, slander and backbiting have become dangerously easy. Yet our Islam teaches us that the dignity of a Muslim is inviolable, protected, and weighty in the sight of Allah.

How do we guard our tongues?
How do we protect each other’s honour?
And what does the Prophet ﷺ teach us about the sacred limits we must never cross?

This Wednesday night, we dive into one of the most critical ethical teachings in Islam, a reminder that maintaining unity begins with safeguarding the dignity of our brothers and sisters.

💬 The Convo Event 29

Few things in life are as heart rending as a history well told, and a lesson well learnt!

📜 From the sands of Makkah to the courts of Damascus and the libraries of Baghdad, our history is not a single chapter, but a magnificent scroll of ideas, battles, scholars and revival.

Yet today, most of us only glimpse fragments of it; the Seerah here, a few names there, unaware of the details of our own past.

🌍 What happened to the Ummah that once led humanity in knowledge, justice and civilisation?
How did we rise from the Prophet ﷺ’s humble beginnings to the heights of the Abbasids; and what lessons lie buried in between?

Join us as we uncover the stories, turning points, and timeless patterns that defined our past and still shape our future.

💬 The Convo 28:

✨ Rituals Without Rule – Why our Deen feels incomplete today?

As Muslims we pray, fast, give charity and some even did Hajj!

We take pride in our rituals and we should!

But deep down, many of us feel something is missing!

Why does our practice feel complete, yet incomplete?

What part of Islam have we left behind?

How did this happen, and what does it mean for our relationship with Allah?

What would it take to truly reclaim the Deen in all its fullness?

Join us for an eye-opening discussion that goes beyond the surface and calls us back to the depth of Islam as a way of life

💬 The Convo 27:

✨ The Blessed Burden - the Prophetic mission that claims your life, and breathes life into you.

👥 As Muslims growing up in the West, we are often oblivious to the conditioning that distances us from the level of commitment, sacrifice, and immersion that Islam inherently demands.

🔎 We tend to view Islam through a secular lens, fitting it somewhere among our life priorities with some prayer, a little Qur’an, fasting, and not much beyond. This outlook is a result of the environment which pulls us away from the true form of Islam as it was lived by the Prophet ﷺ, the Sahaba RA, and the great figures of our history.

💪 What was common in all their journeys was their willingness to shoulder Islam as a burden. In contrast, here in the West, we have been programmed to carry burden only in the context of work, study, and everything dunya related. But when it comes to carrying the weight of Islam, allowing it to consume and define us, we hesitate.

🎤 This Wednesday, we will unpack this phenomenon and discuss how embracing the blessed burden becomes the path to Jannah with a very special guest speaker at our new Mitchinbury venue. Spread the word and bring a brother with you!

🔥 Last night in Minchinbury was something special. The barbecue brought together over 50 young brothers, sharing food, laughs, and the kind of deep conversations Muslim youth need to hear. This is what we’ve been building for the past two years - a space for Muslim youth from Mount Druitt, Rooty Hill, and the surrounding areas to connect to their Islam.

📢 We’re just getting started. Stay tuned for details about our next fortnightly Convo talk, we’ll share the flyer here and on our socials soon. Make sure you’re there and bring a friend! Please join our Whatsapp chat for more regular updates on our events. LINK IN BIO.

Convo 26 – The Strangers’ Comfort | Walking the Path of the Few, Not the Many

📖 Narrated by Abu Huraira (ra): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange as it began. So glad tidings to the strangers.”
(Sahih Muslim)

In a world that constantly pulls us towards conformity, materialism, and compromise, how do we remain firm on the path of truth, even when it feels like we’re walking it ALONE?

🗣️Our next talk is a reminder for the young Muslim striving to stay upright in a time of confusion, fitnah, and isolation. This Thursday, join us as we unpack what it means to be among the “strangers” whom the Prophet ﷺ praised, those who hold on to Islam when it’s hardest, who stay principled when it’s unpopular, and who find their strength not in numbers, but in sincerity.

Convo 26: What Have YOU Given Up for Islam? Sacrifice Drowned by the West’s Ideology of Self

In a world that glorifies self-indulgence and personal fulfilment, the very idea of sacrifice has been stripped of its meaning. As Muslims living in the West, we’ve been moulded into a life of comfort, to the point where sacrifice for Islam feels distant, even unnecessary. We’ve grown used to a version of Islam confined to certain acts of personal worship, while the Ummah suffers due to absence of Islam.

Have we become complacent? Has our Islam been secularised, reduced to rituals, detached from the mission of revival and change?

*Join us this Thursday night* as we reflect on the true nature of sacrifice in Islam, challenge the ideology of the self that surrounds us, and explore what it really means to give something up for the sake of Allah and the emancipation of our Ummah.

🕌 Tonight’s talk on Syria was deeply insightful and moving. Our speaker highlighted the Islamic significance of the land of al-Sham, reminding us of its honoured place in our history and tradition.

🔥 He shared the remarkable story of the Syrian revolution - a journey filled with immense sacrifice, courage, and the unwavering determination of Muslims to rise against tyranny and call for the rule of Islam.

😢 Many of the young brothers were taken aback by the brutal realities faced by the Syrian people, the torture, the bombings, the betrayals, but were also inspired by their steadfastness and hope.

📜 As we reflect on the stories of the Prophets and the Sahabah (RA), we must also remember the powerful and painful legacy of the past 100 years of Muslims who stood against oppression, and the corrupt regimes that tried to silence them.

📚 Insha’Allah, we’ll be dedicating future sessions to stories like these from across the Muslim world. It’s essential that our youth understand how we reached the current state, and what the path forward is for the Ummah.
