✨ 2026 Winning Mural ✨

Marco Pennacchia – “Under the Lamp’s Gentle Glow”

“This painting honours the intimate magic within everyday stillness. A woman reading beneath warm light invites us to pause and notice the delicate moments we often overlook, revealing how simple, quiet experiences can deeply shape our thoughts, our memories and our inner world.”

A beautiful reminder that the power of small moments can often leave the biggest impact

👩🏼‍🎓 We’re so proud to be supporting Ballendella local - Matisse Martin - to start her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy studies at La Trobe University Bendigo this year. Here’s how she’s finding it:

🏫 After finishing High School in 2024, Matisse took a gap year and worked at Rochester Primary School which reinforced her interest in supporting children and people to reach their full potential.

✏️ The transition to uni life has been smooth - ‘The course is great, I feel like I am all settled in now and really enjoying the change!’

🚗 The travel hasn’t been an issue either - ‘The commute from Rochester to and from Bendigo has been totally fine. I have been carpooling with a few friends which makes the drive much more fun.’

🏡 Matisse is still closely tied to her hometown - she continues to work locally a few days as week as well as playing netball at Rochester Football Netball Club

❤️ And the best part? She’s hoping to bring her skills back home. ‘My long term aspiration is to work as an OT in either a school, hospital or private practice in a regional community like Rochester. Growing up in Rochester has shown my the importance of accessing health and education services in smaller communities.’
