MUSIC BY THE RIVER THIS SUNDAY! 1 - 4PM

Unfortunately it was rained out a few weeks back friends but it is back on.

Come on down, Sunday between 1 and 4pm for an afternoon on the lawn.

Soak up the atmosphere, eat a snag or one of the other many delicious treats on offer. Jump on a castle, enjoy a drink and sing-a-long!

Everyone is welcome!! And it’s FREE!

Fun day out for Centenary masters and youth rowers at the Head of the Brisbane!

Attention high school students and soon-to-be high school students!

Would you like to learn to row?

If you haven’t found your sport yet, or would like to try something new - rowing is a great sport for this age group to try because you need to be a *minimum* of 12 years old or in Term 4 Year 6 to start, and everyone is at same level.

Centenary Rowing Club is running a 6 week learn to row program specifically for high schoolers starting *Sunday 13 October* 7.30-9.30am.

Cost: $100

For: School students - minimum age Year 7 (or soon to be Year 7) in high school through to Year 12.

Over 6 lessons, the Learn To Row (LTR) team will teach you how to scull on the river safely and efficiently.

Please make sure that you bring a hat, soft plastic water bottle, shoes, socks, a change of clothes and a towel each week, as everyone will be taught the "capsize" drill at different times during the course. Still come to the club if the weather doesn't look any good as we will use the ergos (rowing machines).

By the end of the 6 weeks you will be able to scull by yourselves in a single scull, flip it over on purpose and then get back in safely. You will also be taught important river safety and awareness skills that will help you throughout your rowing career.

School State Championships Wrap!

What a weekend! Special mentions to Josh for his silver medal in the Year 9 single scull and gold medal in the inter-regional U17 quad; Chelsea for her silver medal in the Year 10 single scull; and Tim and Cam for their huge effort in the inter-regional open quad.

Congrats to everyone who gave it their all racing over a huge 3 days - we’re truly so proud of all of you. Enjoy the holidays, rest up, sleep (a lot!) and we can’t wait to bring on club season next term.

Special thanks to Dugie for towing, Cam for doing an incredible job of managing the loading / unloading, Liz for her endless job of organising pretty much everything, all the parents for helping launch/land rowers, Pete H for the urgent repair to Chels’ boat, everyone for getting in and helping each other get boats back up that dreaded hill after races, kids who weren’t racing still turning up to support club mates, and Pete W for all his help coaching in the lead up to and over the weekend. It takes a village, and ours rocks.

Centenary Rowing Club run school programs for several high schools in the western suburbs. High schoolers looking for a new sport - this is a great way to get in at the very beginning, as you need to be at least 12 years old to start.

Adults looking for fun and fitness, or to get back into the boat themselves, this is also for you 😊
