SPEEWAH TO THE HAT 2026 — A RECORD-BREAKING SUCCESS!

What an absolutely incredible result for the 13th Speewah to The Hat - Walk for a Cause - Annual Event

The support for this year’s event was bigger than ever:

🥾 143 people registered or joined the standby list before we had to close the event early due to overwhelming demand.

🏁 112 walkers completed the 13.5km course — a new event record! (8 last minute cancellations on the morning of event).

🎂 Our oldest-ever finisher completed the walk at 80 years old!

❤️ Zero injuries across the entire event.

🎁 A record $4,102.50 worth of prizes was given away, thanks to our incredibly generous sponsors.

💰 After all event expenses were paid, a record $7,040 was handed directly to our three 2026 recipients:

❤️ An Elderly Kuranda Man with Health & Finance Issues - $4000
🧸 Mareeba Toy Library - $1520
🐾 Adopt Me Kittens Inc. - $1520

To every walker who took on the challenge, every sponsor who donated, and everyone who volunteered, donated money, bought raffle tickets or supported the event in any way — THANK YOU!

These records belong to all of you. Your support is what allows Speewah to The Hat to continue making a genuine difference for people and organisations within our local community.

Since the event became a Fundraiser in 2018 (raising just $1095 that year) we have grown year on year and have now raised $42,155.00 that has gone directly into the hands of our very own Locals in need!

What a bloody fantastic result all round!

Speewah to The Hat - Walk for a Cause - Annual Event has been run and done with a very successful event all round! Details to follow...

Our final sponsor appreciation for 2026 goes to Kuranda Gas and Supplies, who generously donated a 45kg bottle of gas as one of the fantastic prizes for this year’s event!

This generous contribution helped us achieve the highest-ever value of prizes given away in the event’s history 0f $4102.50 worth of prizes given away this year.

Speewah to The Hat - Walk for a Cause - Annual Event 2026 is officially🚶‍♀️ SOLD-OUT EVENT WITH 120 WALKERS! 🚶‍♂️taking on the 13.5km journey from Speewah to the Red Beret Hotel!

The walk may be sold out, but everyone is welcome to come down to the Red Beret, join us for lunch, support the event, get amongst the raffles and help us welcome the walkers home!

We now have 110 walkers entered, which means this is already officially the biggest walk in the event’s history! 🎉

It’s fantastic to see so many people getting behind the event, and we can’t wait to see this record-breaking group make their way from Speewah to The Hat.
