MARKET CANCELLED - Saturday 5 September

The Hill & Ridge Community Market at Red Hill Recreation Reserve tomorrow, Saturday 5 September, has been cancelled due to forecast damaging and unsafe winds.

We’re incredibly disappointed not to be kicking off Season 3 with you tomorrow, but after careful consideration and consultation, the safety of our stallholders, visitors, volunteers and community has to come first.

The good news is that all of our September giveaways will carry over to October, including the Red Hill Truffle Hunt for Two and Mornington Peninsula Produce Hamper. Many stallholders are offer great deals over the weekend, visit - https://www.hillandridgemarket.com.au/septemberpromo

We’ll be back at the Red Hill Recreation Reserve on Saturday 3 October, 9am–2pm, with all the good things we had planned - just a little later than expected.

A huge congratulations to our friends at Southern Seagreens, who picked up a Legend Award at the Melbourne Food & W**e Festival Legends on Monday night!

These are true Peninsula locals. Co-founder Cam Hines grew up in Shoreham, snorkelling through the kelp forests along our coast. After seeing those forests devastated by warming waters and feral sea urchins, Cam joined scientist Rob Brimblecombe and former navy diver Brent “Bert” Cross to start Southern Seagreens in 2022.

Today, they grow around 1.5 kilometres of native golden kelp on ropes beneath the water off Flinders. If you’re down at Flinders Pier, you can sometimes spot the team out on the water tending the crop.

The kelp is brought back to their processing shed in Dromana, just around the corner from our friends at Bass & Flinders Distillery. There, it is dried and turned into seasoned salt and other delicious condiments. They also harvest invasive wakame to make hot sauce and Disco Jam - a rich, savoury umami bomb that is brilliant in sauces, gravies or spooned into a cheese toastie.

We love having these clever, hardworking locals at Hill and Ridge Community Market. Come along, say hello, have a taste and support a Peninsula business doing great things for our food and our coast.

Good things are back in Red Hill this Saturday, come say hi!

The Hill & Ridge Community Market kicks off Season 3 this Saturday 5 September. Expect 200+ stalls of local growers, makers, artists, vintage finds, good food and live music, all packed into the heart of Red Hill.

And look, we can't help ourselves - there's a giveaway too. Get there before 11am, follow the music to the Music Stage, and pop your name in the draw for a $400 Red Hill Truffles Hunt for Two or a $200 Mornington Peninsula Produce (MPP) Hamper. Easy.

The hunt begins this September.

There's always something good to discover at the Hill & Ridge Community Market, and on Saturday 5 September one lucky visitor will win an unforgettable Red Hill Truffle Hunt and Tasting for Two with Red Hill Truffles valued at $400.

While the market is tucked up in winter hibernation this King’s Birthday long weekend, there’s still plenty of good things happening across Red Hill and the Mornington Peninsula.

Main Ridge Dairy is leaning right into the long weekend with roaring fires, farmgate cheese, a brand new deck and their “Winter Farmhouse” cheese spectacular board ready for slow afternoons in the hills.
