PORT MACQUARIE GETS ITS OWN FAMILY FRIENDLY
BEER AND CIDER FESTIVAL

Port Macquarie is set to host a unique and exciting family event at Westport Park this September. The inaugural Port Macquarie Beer and Cider Festival is to be held on Saturday September 26, with a festive atmosphere designed to celebrate all the good things in life; beer, cider, food, games and music. The event will feature som

ething for everyone and brings together some of the best of Australia’s beer and cider makers, set against the serene backdrop of the spectacular Hastings River. A special bus timetable will ensure attendees can enjoy the afternoon of tastings without having to worry about driving home. The Port Macquarie Beer and Cider Festival will showcase a spectacular mixing pot of brews with over fifty different beers and ciders represented, from local and Australian-wide brewers. The event presents a unique opportunity for the Port Macquarie community to engage the rapidly trending craft beer and cider craze and efficaciously sip the love, blood, sweat and tears poured into each barrel by incredibly enthusiastic brewers. While Westport Park will be transformed into a bustling festival vibe and part hangout spot, the most exciting part of the day will be the inaugural Mid North Coast Beer Keg Toss! Inspired by the long tradition of the Highland Games, the Beer Keg Toss relies on a combination of technique, timing and pure power to succeed. Festival organisers are looking for the best male and best female to take out $600 in cash and prizes. Competitors should register early to avoid disappointment. This is best done by visiting the website. Qualifying heats will be run throughout the day and the penultimate final will decide the winner. Families will be enchanted the stripped back aesthetic and relaxed atmosphere that the interim outdoor beer garden presents. While brewers jostle for bragging rights, Port Macquarie beer lovers will be in heaven as the town embraces a festival to celebrate the amber drop. There’s bound to be something new to discover, even for the educated palate. The family event will feature gourmet food market stalls, games and live music. The games area will be bursting with activities to keep kids of all ages entertained with a jumping castle, Bocce set up, giant Jenga play, plus lots more. The Port Macquarie Beer and Cider Festival will kick off at midday and go through until 7pm. Port Macquarie and beyond it’s been too long between drinks! After a brief hiatus last year, we are excited to announce that the much-loved Port Macquarie Beer & Cider Festival will make its return in 2019 to its home on Westport Park, armed with some of Australia’s best Beer and Cider makers.

Set with the serene Hastings River as backdrop, the event will be held Saturday November 16, showcasing a spectacular and diverse range of brews. More than fifty different beers and ciders are set to be represented, from a selection of the finest brewers both locally and Australian-wide.

This year’s festival will also see the return of the ever popular Mid North Coast Beer Keg Toss with the return of previous champions hoping to retain their title. This, our nod to the long tradition of the Highland Games, the Beer Keg Toss relies on a combination of technique, timing and pure power to succeed.
