HELPERS WANTED.

Do you want to be apart of one of Port Fairy’s iconic events ? This is your chance.
We are looking for helpers to help out around the club over Easter weekend.

Message this page for contact details if you’re interested.

Port Fairy Yacht Club is excited to host the ORCV - Queenscliff to Port Fairy Ocean Race again this year.

Traditionallyro held over the Easter holiday, the race to the historic and picturesque western district town of Port Fairy is one of three coastal races conducted by the club.
The 135 mile course is often a race in two parts. The first takes competing yachts south-westwards past the coastal resorts of Torquay, Anglesea, Lorne and Apollo Bay before rounding rugged Cape Otway. The second part is from Cape Otway to the finish line where it is often possible to ease sheets for a reach or run. The race is part of the offshore Championship.

Race Record: 14h 26m 20s by QUASIMODO in 1984

The club is generally a very busy and fun atmosphere during this event and we welcome you all to come along to cheer the yachts coming in the river after the race while enjoying what the club has to offer throughout the weekend!

Last years race proved to be a tough race. Let's hope for better conditions or potential record breaking conditions.

We look forward to seeing all yachts and crews at the club.

Final day of Festival of Sails.

Was a typical festival of sails with wind between 5-10knots at times no wind at all. Well done to all our members that took place in the regatta.

Across the 3 days we seen carnage and absolute chaos on start lines. Hold Fast tearing their head sail in yesterdays afternoon race unfortunately costed them their series lead. But that’s sailing!

Short fuse understandably had another successful regatta well done to all on board.

Running wild had a strong performance this year

Kaboom unfortunately only got the passage race in however the crew still very much loved the festival activities.

Final series results.

Hold Fast came 4th overall

Short Fuse got equal first however due to count back they came in 2nd overall in the series and line honours in all races.

Running wild got 7th overall

Well done all and safe deliveries back to Port Fairy. See you back in Port Fairy for Club racing on the 10th of February.

Regatta week means meals and drinks along the Geelong Waterfront. 😎😎Good luck to all our sailors today.

Update

Short fuse has moved into second on Handicap after a division protest between boats with penalty time given to a boat moving chris up a spot. How lucky!

Next update tonight after the two races!
