1 week until our debut show of BOOM! BAP! POW! with a string quartet so we asked for their thoughts on playing with the strings. And like many of the great bands that have influenced them, they didn’t need many words to get their point across!

Boom! Bap! Pow! with James Rogers of The Little Lord Street Band on June 6 at Melville Main Hall (indoors so no worries about weather but still byo picnic vibes & heaps of chairs if you prefer!) Tickets: Tender is the Night - Boom! Bap! Pow! and James Rogers

When I approached Your Girl Pho to play Tender is the Night I was looking for something different and a bit more experimental to what we had been doing and damn she did not disappoint. This track in particular is like a electronic psych swirl of bass, vocals and strings!

Love is Meant for Watering (Garden) by Your Girl Pho
Arranged by Simon Kruit

featuring Madeleine Antoine, Emma Buss, Alix Hamilton and Amber Day

Recorded live at Goolugatup Heathcote, filmed and edited by Graeme Meaker Photography thanks to the generous support of City of Melville and Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport

Our next concert on June 6 will feature this bloke, who has been one of the most prolific & revered songwriters in Perth for some time now. Jame Rogers is better known these days as one half of country staples The Little Lord Street Band, but before he softened has also featured in Triple J alt rock darlings Harlequin League, Next Big Thing winners The Fault, as well as The Old Croak, Patient Little Sister & The Shallows. Oh and a solo album somewhere too

The big question on the lips of any long time follower is: will his Tender is the Night performance usher in a new version of Charlie’s Town? Buy yourself a ticket and find out! Link in bio

In my typical poor form I forgot to post some pics of the string section from our last show. Thanks Madeleine Antoine Emma buss Alix Hamilton and Amber Day!

The strings really are the unsung heroes of the show (though I try to publicly praise them as much as possible!) I don't really have to talk to them much until show day and they just rock up and make it magic! (with little rehearsal, sight reading mostly)

Artist is playing the song a bit different to the original recording.... they'll cope.

Composer missed a section or had an extra creative note... they'll fix it.

Stupid me forgot to print a composition (shamefully this has happened! soz guys😢).... someone will improve something.

After every set I ask how it went and after a few wry smiles they say it was all good. If there were issues they wouldn't let the audience know and they wouldn't bother me with the stress! The best!

Our next show is June 6 with Boom! Bap! Pow! and James Rogers of The Little Lord Street Band, Tender is the Night - Boom! Bap! Pow! and James Rogers

"Hearing my songs in that light was wild, like experiencing them from a completely new perspective".

First pics from our first shows of 2026 with the incredible Adrian Dzvuke playing with the Tender Strings quartet a few weeks ago at Goolugatup Heathcote. Respect to a man who brings his own props to a gig (I got a lot of compliments for the lamp!)

Thanks so much to all the legends who came along on Sunday for Adrian Dzvuke and Your Girl Pho . It was a beautiful evening, even better than this sunset!

Thanks to the artists & strings for their incredible performances, the composers for their creativity and everyone else involved in putting the show together. Also massive thanks to City of Melville & Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport who make our shows possible.

And finally a big thankyou to those who bought merch, I’ve donated $300 on your behalf to help our dear friend Anna Sarcich with her treatments. If you missed your chance but do feel like donating there is a link in our bio
