This isn’t just a 1964 Isuzu Bellett. It’s part of Marian family history 🚗
 
For The Car That Carried Home, the Western Sydney artist has transformed her late father’s restored car into an installation inspired by childhood trips to Flemington Markets, when it would return packed with fruit and vegetables.
 
And each night at Parramatta Lanes, the work comes to life with Marian’s family and invited performers through the acts of preparing, preserving, sharing and eating food.

If you hear SOUND OFF before you find it, you’re heading in the right direction 🔊👀

Siren cars roll in. Sound systems take over the rooftops. Music gets turned up. Large-scale projections transform the car park around you.

Part car meet, part outdoor performance space, SOUND OFF is taking over Leigh Memorial for Parramatta Lanes.

It’s going to be a huge four nights, with sounds spanning hip hop, R&B, jazz, punk, indie, electronic, Afrobeat, Latin rhythms, neo-soul, global club sounds and plenty in between.

From headline sets and live bands to rooftop DJs, jazz sessions, underground stages and artists you’re about to discover, there’s a different soundtrack waiting around every corner.

Set against the Parramatta River itself, the work explores family, memory and displacement, tracing the legacies of colonisation and industry that connect migrant communities along the estuary.

Art Expressions of Interests are now open for Parramatta Lanes 2026.

We’re inviting artists, performers, designers and creative organisations to help transform Parramatta C*D with bold, outdoor work.

This work can include:
🎈 Inflatable Artwork Commissions (for emerging artists)
🎭 Outdoor Performance & Art Installations (installation + non-music performance works)

If you’ve got an idea that’s high-impact, immersive and made for day-to-night outdoor audiences, we want to hear from you.
