Evening Swingers

It was a cool overcast day with fresh cut fairways for the last qualifying round of club Championships. 12 players tee'd off including Simon Pollard from Laura who continued his tradition and taking his time to play a round at Orroroo every year and although his scores may not have reflected a great day I'm sure the ice cold cans afterwards along with the comradery ensured he went home happy, almost as happy as Simon " Pink Nuts the Snorter " McNamara who once again proved too good for the rest of the field, blazing away to win the day with his favorite 69 nett to win by 1 stroke from John Sheehan. Well done Pinky

A Grade winner 82/73 nett was Eddie Piggot who beat Paul Gameau on a
C/B.
B Grade winner Simon McNamara 81/69 nett

Long drive 11 Paul Gameau
NTP 6 Jacko Nutt
NTP 14 Grant "Rastas" Reddaway

Next week is the 1st round of the club championships and the Presidents Trophy, so I'll be busy this week preparing the championship draw. I will send out an email to all paid up members. Good luck.

Saturday 16th May

The Orroroo Golf Club enjoyed another fantastic day of golf over the weekend, with players taking advantage of the excellent autumn conditions and the course presenting in terrific order after 15 mm of rain overnight

A field 12 local members competed in the Perrys Fuel trophy, luckily the rain forecasted throughout the day held off, however scoring proved to be difficult for most of the field. Not so for Captain Snowy who had a purple patch during his round with 5 birdies in 6 holes to be crowned the days winner with 37 stableford points.

The highlight of the day was Simo trying to get his Magna up the newly graded road to the 8th hole following the rain, didn't go that well, in fact that was his biggest highlight for the day🤣

A Grade Winner Snowy 66/ 67 -37pts
B Grade winner Rastas 88/75 -29pts

Long drive 12 Jackson Nutt
Ntp no.14 Snowy

Following play, members and visitors gathered back at the clubhouse to enjoy refreshments, presentations, and a " Steak" night. A big thankyou to Nardine, Hanna and Kate for all the great work in the kitchen and Roundy and Gam for flipping Steaks.

The Orroroo Golf Club thanks all players, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for contributing to another successful day and looks forward to welcoming everyone back for the next week.

Cheers Captain Snowy ⛳️

Evening Swingers,
12 happy hitters tee'd off on Saturday playing for the Drummond Golf trophy. Some of them not so happy by the time they finished. There's always next week legends.

After last weks excitement with Simo's hole in 1 and the fact that he shouted drinks for a few rounds it was always going to be on the low.

Step up Paul "Roundy" Smith, who came in hot with a great round of 66 net to take the win and edge out T. Baker and E. Piggot by a couple of shots. Nice work Roundy

A grade winner Roundy
B grade winner Eddie Piggot

Long drive 5 Roundy
NTP 15 Simon Jones
NTP 17 John Sheehan
2nd shot on 18. Simon Mac

Big thankyou goes out to Simo, WoodDuck, Johnny and Roundy for the new upgrade of turf to the practice nets. Great work fellas it looks mint.

That's it from me till next week so chow. 👋

Evening Swingers
Have i got a treat for you tonight, with huge news coming out of the OGC.

Picture this, hole no.3 162 meters slight head wind, shining, fresh cut grass, birds chirping, and on the tee we have Simon "Pink nuts"McNamara.

Can't decide between a 6 or 7 iron but in the end settles for the 6.
Centre's his hat ✅️
Give the aggets a quick re-adjust ✅️
Club waggle ✅️
Quick look at the pin ✅️
Focus on the dimples ✅️
Pause and ......whack f*k
The ball goes flying off the club face with a low penetrating trajectory towards the pin. With no real urgency to find the ball, which was thought to have travelled over the black and in the s**t. But.....no ole Pink Nuts jamed it right in the hole, not his first rodeo either. 😜
It was great to witness such a great moment in golf which was not only an Eagle but because we have terrific sponsors Hughes Mining Labour Hire sponsored the hole with $2000 big ones. Thanks so much for the generosity towards our club, much appreciated and as for Pinky also opened up the wallet and shouted free drinks. And in other news,

On Saturday we had 14 players teeing off, for the NR AG Jamestown trophy.
In another close encounter there was a countback between Jason " WoodDuck" Wood and this is your "Captain" speaking with Captain Snowy edging out his opponents to take the win.

A grade winner Snowy
B grade winner Johnny Sheehan

Long drive no.1 Paul Gameau

NTP on 2 no one tried
10. Paul "Roundy" Smith
NTP 2nd shot on 4 "Snowy"

Next week is another stroke round towards the championships so keep it coming. Big thanks to all that came out today to mow and clean up some areas that were hugely over grown. Looks great.

Cheers Captain Snowy ⛳️

Evening Swingers
Hope you all had a safe and happy Easter, apologies for the late results.

On saturday we played for the Hughes Mining labour hire trophy, huge thankyou to the team for joining the club as a major sponsor for the year, great to have you on board.

The first 18 holes were played in beautiful conditions despite the grass getting out of control, course is certainly a picture for this time of year.

Taking the chocolates this week was Eddie Piggot who continues to play well each week and is certainly lowering his handicap to almost single figures. Well done Eddie

B grade Eddie Piggott 79 /67 nett

Long drive Eddie Piggot

NTP on 6 Jason Wood
10. Jackson Nutt
14. Levi Speed.
