Ok, so the first time I loaded this reel there were some issues with the reel quality even though it garnered a lot of views in the first 10 minutes.

I had to make the hard decision of reposting because I wanted everyone to see the best version, and as a result, the reposted reel didn’t get as many views. In fact it was one of the least viewed reels in the last month.

Social media is very fickle that way, for some unknown reason that is the algorithms, a “good” reel gets missed.

But you don’t have to miss seeing our post because of the algorithms.

Follow us, but more importantly, get stuck in. If you see something you like about our reels, something that makes you laugh, makes you smile, cry, or just feel reel (pun intended) good about the world, then like it. Comment on it. Repost it. Share it.

Your engagement ensures you see more of us. And we more than deserve to be seen. Our fundraising efforts for our small bush school deserves to be acknowledged in broad daylight. Every day. Any day.

And I am using social media right here, right now to acknowledge our extraordinary efforts.

Make sure you like this reel.

As always, 💯 volunteer-run BBQ stall was a big hit with the crowd two weekends ago. BBQ stall is proudly sponsored by Jumbuck Meats Gourmet Butchery, with 💯 profits going back to the school.

How many of you know what we serve on the BBQ menu? We put a few random people to the test on how well they know the menu. See the full reel for the plot twist.

Fun but very important fact: this year, BBQ team went all out with a limited edition offering: pulled pork burgers.

Martin painstakingly wet-brined 11kg of pork shoulder for 3 days, then dry-brined overnight before being slow-cooked and smoked to perfection for 15 hours.

Let it be known we take our BBQ very seriously at CommFest.

BBQ stall will be serving again next year on 28 and 29 August.

We love our market stall holders!

Many of them have been returning vendors with whom we have developed lasting and friendly relationships.

Our market stall holders are the extended CommFest family we meet up with every year, we chat about our lives over perfect festival conditions.

Thank you very much for joining us three weekends ago. Check out our stories for market stall holder mentions and details!

Thank you to all the wonderful sponsors for joining us on Opening Night!

Although Opening Night was three weeks ago, it almost feels like it just happened yesterday.

It was very pleasant to meet up with those who were present, connecting over good food and drinks in a welcoming environment.

Thank you again for all the support everyone has shown the Oatley West Public School Community Festival. We are truly blessed to be living in such an interconnected and inclusive community.

Save the Date for next year’s Opening Night: 27 August 2027.

Never a dull moment at Opening Night!

As we observe R U OK Day for su***de prevention tomorrow, remember every conversation could change a life, and it is as simple as:

1. Ask R U OK?
2. Listen
3. Encourage action
4. Check in

and we can engage in this conversation any day, every day.

To the best bunch of dads, granddads and father figures at CommFest:

We wish you a Happy Father’s Day. May your beers be ice-cold and your BBQs be piping hot.

And let there not be a single water gun or hand ball in sight.

You more than deserve it.

Last Saturday afternoon, we had the Georges River College Peakhurst Jazz and Contemporary Ensembles perform on Main Stage and my goodness were they amazing!

Some of the students were familiar faces having performed on Main Stage last year. It was a pleasure to welcome them back on Main Stage and to witness their growth.

I’ve also been told one of the guitarists can play the guitar behind his back. If you know who I’m talking about, make sure to give him a big pat on his back.

If you want more of GRC Peakhurst bands and other excellent performances from the students, they will be performing at their annual Peakform production on Wednesday, 16th September.

Peakform tickets are now available via link above. There will also be $5 sausage sizzle meal deals.

Thank you again to the staff and students for joining us last weekend, and we look forward to seeing more of your excellence!
