With the Brisbane Olympics now only 6 years away, plans on competition venues are being finalised.

Rowing is planned to be held on the Fitzroy River in Rockhampton, 600km north of Brisbane on a natural, flood prone river that is home to saltwater crocodiles. Not the best venue for elite competition. An alternate proposal has been raised just out of Brisbane which would provide a fairer competition venue with legacy use for thousands of regular participants
