So much lovely music to enjoy with the talents of Zac Choi and Christ Church Camerata - this weekend!

Shimmering candlelight with brilliant works from courts and ballrooms.

Zac Choi - violin
David Banney - conductor
A special Camerata event.*

MOZART Divertimento in F
BEETHOVEN Romance in F
STRAUSS The Blue Danube
MAHLER Adagietto from Symphony No.5
HAYDN 'Farewell' Symphony

Camerata with Candles combines shimmering candlelight in spectacular Christ Church Cathedral with brilliant works from one of the world’s most musical cities. From
Mozart to Mahler via Beethoven and Strauss, we finish with Haydn’s inspired message to his boss. It was 1772 and Prince Esterhazy’s court was keen to get home after an unreasonably long summer holiday. A modern workforce might head to the industrial court - Haydn simply wrote one of his finest symphonies, finishing the work with a clear message that was heeded by the boss, who packed up the court and returned home within the week!

There were tears of appreciation and awe for last night's performance by Clemens Leske - the Wanderer Fantasie by Schubert was an astonishingly dramatic performance that left the audience feeling as if they "were on top of a mountain" -"I've rarely heard a piano fill a room as completely". Then the glorious Goldberg - each person rejoiced to hear their favourite movements, and the sheer physicality and musicality of the evening's performance will be remembered for years to come. Thank you Clemens Leske for a rare treat. (Image: Kerrie Coles, Committee)
