New discoveries in the roof space at The Homestead..!

A recent curious electrician-come handyman crawling around in the roof space here has discovered the in-tact mechanisms of the original “servants bells” linking to this historic piece still featured on the main Homestead exterior.

My first thoughts were “I’ll set them up again”, however I’ve realised that this might mean that guests will expect me to come running when they ring them…! 😆😆😆

Anyway, stay tuned for more unique historic discoveries & restoration project updates.

Shout out to the awesome tradies in Naracoorte..!

I was lucky enough to catch this guy before he goes into semi-retirement 👍

John Lauterbach from “Caveland Cabinets” fixed up unfinished kitchen cupboards in ‘The Grain Store’ from….possibly 20 years ago at Narracoorte Homestead today.

When only the best will do 🪚 🔨 🪚

…prone to slight exaggeration…maybe 12 layers of paint..?

Regardless, it all has to come off. It’s a slow process but it will be worth it.!

Just had another wedding booking (for November 2027.!) so I’ve promised it will be beautiful by then!!

Narracoorte Homestead supports history!!

Every May, South Australia hosts often one-off events delving into our unique history.

The Naracoorte Library + Town Hall is hosting a “Walk Down Memory Lane”, for the community to gather & reminisce about life in the 50’s & 60’s living in Naracoorte (& surrounding areas).

We look forward to seeing you there..!

The 2026 SA History Festival continues for May..!

A big thank you to the supportive and enthusiastic locals who attended the “Stories, stories, stories…!” event at Narracoorte Homestead yesterday evening.
