On behalf of the Mount Magnet Race Club we would like to make the following statement regarding the abandonment of our 2026 race meet.

Following an inspection on race day, RWWA stewards determined that the track surface was not sufficiently consistent for the meeting to go ahead, resulting in the race program being subsequently abandoned. The committee were of the understanding that the condition of the track was unchanged from last year’s event, where the official post-race stewards report raised no issue with the track condition nor remediation works required.

This was an extremely disappointing outcome for all involved, including our volunteers, sponsors, participants, and everyone who travelled to Mount Magnet to support the event. A significant amount of time, effort and community support went into preparing for the meeting, and we share the disappointment felt by all those involved.

The Mount Magnet Race Club committee will meet again to discuss the circumstances surrounding the abandonment, determine our plans moving forward and will be reaching out to our sponsors of the day.

We will release further information following this meeting and appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime.

We sincerely thank everyone who was there on the day for sticking around, supporting the club and still making a bloody good day of it.

The true bush spirit is still alive and thriving in Mount Magnet.

Thank you again to the shire of Mount Magnet for the use of the bus and Darren for driving!

Bus pick ups will be from 12pm at the Grand Hotel (near IGA) and Caravan park every 20 mins.
