10/11/2025
As the dust settles ( rain continues) and the mammoth task of packing up legends 2025 takes place it's time to say some words. ( Sorry I hate public speaking, I try I really do but can't do it, I'm not one who wants recognition or likes to be praised, but at the same time I truly appreciate it)
Legends is more then an event to me, it's my life, having had the privilege of knowing the great Lionel Stingers for a number of years and having the upmost respect for him stepping up when we lost him just seemed natural, never it my wildest dreams did I think I would have such an emotional attachment to a bloody Hillclimb.the event, it's history, the sponsors, the competitors and most important the event staff are the best humans you will meet.
I've said one more more then one more time, but the last 6 months have been lots of thinking and yesterday was the day to put my big boy pants on and make a huge decision, the real one more is here, 2026 will see me out, it's been a hell of a journey, 99.9% great. I take the event to heart, I have a huge emotional attachment which I Think was evident on the week,i try and lead with passion and enthusiasm and try to spread my infectious love of the best Hillclimb in the world on everyone I can.
Firstly SEAC as a club, much support over the years. Thank you for trusting me for many years to work my magic, do silly crazy things to keep improving the event.
Event sponsors big and small, Terry and the Trident team, walk in to see him every year and he says the same thing, one more year, thankyou Terry for your support and trust in the the Trident name attached to this event. Peter and the gazzards team, nothing is ever to much to ask if them.in recent year's Bosch Motorsport Australia , wow these guys are awesome, Sean Day and Dan Day incredible, and the list goes on and on.
The competitors, most of whom are now great mates, you guys rock.
The volunteers and contractors, and officials, yes Im a hard task master, yes I get grumpy, yes it's my way or the highway most times, but you guys keep giving 110% we work hard for days And days, week after week after week having meetings, preparing and organising and you never stop and say no, you keep on giving your time and thats bloody awesome
Most important Danielle Wiseman, this lady is the back bone of this event, it consumes half our life, she spends hundreds and hundreds of hour's behind the scenes on a computer compiling paperwork, entry details, let's not get started on the entry order, it's hard work how I want it done but she does it perfectly and it works like clockwork.
Thanks Frank Kelly for making the 20th such a memorable one, the 21st has big shoes to fill.
Well done to the 12 Hall of fame inductees. That's very Very special.
Cheers
