Hi GVBBL followers,
not good news today, we have made the difficult decision to call an end to the GVBBL.
The decision was made even more difficult as we have sponsors and Team Owners on board and plenty of players keen to play, we have just run out of spare Sundays in an ever more crowded cricket calendar.
With local Women's cricket and more Representative cricket (Senior & Junior), fixturing the GVBBL was too hard to do.
I need to run through a list of thanks as we had plenty of support during the 5 years -
Crane Aid who were our initial major sponsor. Leigh Cole took a gamble and signed up for 3 years sponsorship. Thank you for your support.
The Apprenticeship Factory then came on board as major sponsor, thank you.
Cobram Panel Works who ran the CPW Panthers. Mark Habberfield is a great supporter of local cricket. Thank you.
Nathan Delahey who ran the Jarvis Delahey Crushers. Nathan is another tireless local cricket supporter. Thank you.
Brenton Sheppard who ran the Hurley's Hotel Hounds. Brenton supports most local sports, drop in for a drink and say thanks!
Steve Reeves who ran the SRP Mud Dogs. Steve loves local cricket and was keen to get involved. Thank you.
Travis & Tony who jumped on board with Sporties Spitfires with the support of Flat Sports club. Thank you.
To all the players who supported the GVBBL, a huge thank you. We got to watch some very good cricket and some exciting finishes.
The myriad of other helpers during the 5 years, broadcasters, commentators, ground announcers, scorers, umpires, the list goes on.
I can't forget Kent and the boys at Darling Downs Bush Bash League who gave us a helping hand setting up and put us onto Blue Dog Sports who kicked us off with our uniforms.
I think that covers everyone except for the supporters who turned up in good numbers at games to watch some entertaining cricket.
